TCP/IP problems

Post by mogami »

Hi, Lots of fun however there seems to be a problem setting production and such. Experts are off however each turn I change settings in province and next turn they are back as before.
I rename Army/Corps and next turn they are back as before. Units build and move with no problem just items I mentioned. Also when I write a treaty and send it never arrives.
All experts are off. I turned them all on and then off again to make sure)

If I understand you correctly, province labor settings, renamed units and treaties are also reseting for you in TCP/IP games? Everything else is working fine?

I haven't seen that and in fact I know I've seen those work (at least as the host computer) but I will try this with v1.0 and see if I can duplicate it. Were you the host computer or one of the clients?

Hi, I joined a game. In first game no problem. In second it began after we restarted from save file.
Why don't you join our game to check it? Be connecting again shortly

greetings, cannot help you about the adviser's but try short names for corps and armies, i think only large names are affected, at least in my ongoing games,

I think we started again before he saw this.

Hi, Game is a gas. We are kicking butt and taking names but since I can't control my provinces and I can't get the expert to do it my people are starving.
Just defeated a combined Turko-Russian force of over 300,000 men at Vienna with Austria (about 190,000)
My treaties to Russia kept vanishing (however they did count as diplomatic efforts so I know I sent them correctly) Then the Russians turned bad (my advisor said they would have accepted the Alliance against Turkey)
Now before anyone gets too carried away here I want to remind Erik what OS I am using.
The game does not support ME and if this is the reason for my problems then I will have to learn to live with them.
More players with the correct OS will have to play TCP/IP to see if these problems exist when correct systems are being used.
Everything works on my machine in solo play except for I crash when I try to use the "info" buttons. (I control my milatary from the milatary menus. If I place a unit in a city (like a Army or Corps) I can't get it back out. Regular units I can move from town to town or into Army/Corps

We did have problems with provincial labor allocations getting reset in TCP/IP games. I thought I'd fixed it, but I may have missed some cases where it's still not working.

I know I've tested renaming units in TCP/IP before; I'll add it to the list.

Thanks for the reports!

It's not just the reallocation of labor that seems to be getting reset but also the build menu's. If he orders a province to build a farm for instance, that order 'disappears' or 'resets' during the processing of the turn as if he never ordered it.

Now this was with me as the host. I didn't have any problems in any of our games with this issue.

The other issue is that it seemed like our game went out of sync or something. Sometimes when mogami would finish first, he would hit his end turn button. He would go to the normal waiting screen. I would then also hit end turn and be taken to the waiting screen. There where it shows the status of players turns, would show me that his nation was still 'waiting' and greyed out as opposed to the normal 'orders received' and not greyed out that should appear.

Other than those 2 issues, the construction of province facilities being constant for him, and the other happening only a few times in over 8 hrs of play... tcp/ip was really smooth!

The only thing I think would be beneficial would be the ability to send messages to a particular nation without anyone else seeing them in the game and in the wait screen. A good way to hash out some deals! [8D]

Wow, I didn't see that at all in my TCP/IP game yesterday - we'll check this today to see if we can duplicate. My build orders were stored turn to turn. This was only on Mogami's Windows Me machine or also for you as the host (running XP I assume)?

Hi, Orders for development and units do work. If I change labor to farming, build a infantry unit and start a bank the next turn the labor is back as before but the infantry and bank are still being built.
My national tax rate changed from time to time. Treaties were not delievered (but counted as diplomatic effort for turn)

Only on his machine. I am running xp pro and had no problems....

Also, we had jstrue who has also posted on the other tcp/ip thread? host a game with us. The game also went out of sync as he reported. I assume he was hosting from an XP machine but can't say for sure. Mogami was the one who was out of sync that time too so it may be the ME issue.

Maybe you should join mogami and I for a few turns or sumfink today.
