Forage or supply?

I have an Army that contains several divisions. When you left click the stack on the map it shows who is in the army as well as the toggle to either forage or supply. I have a supply depot in the province and have the men supplying from that depot, however I noticed that the Army itself is set to forage. So, I assume that the army takes precedent over the individual divisions as far as supply or forage goes, based on the fact that some of the divisions are under strength now without the army ever fighting a single battle or moving around. Is that right or am I just "seeing things" ?

I think we need a bit more information to answer the question.

1) Have they lost anyone due to not being supplied which ties into 2;

2) Are you running a positive balance with money or a negative each month?

3) If you are not making enough money, then they will lose men over time due to not being able to pay for the supplies.

I think I figured out why, and I feel real dumb btw [8D] I had my upkeep set to 80% so that explains the troop strength being down.[&o]
