Release format?

Post by mlees »

Maybe this is jumping the gun a little. If so, please forgive.

I am old school, and I like to have my own (CDROM) copies of the software I install on my computer. (My hard drive crashes once every two years, guaranteed.) My concern is: will "CD on demand" be available for WPO?

Please list the methods this game will be available for purchase.

Thanks!

Yes, as with all our recent titles:

Your options:

1. Immediate Download only
2. Immediate Download + Boxed copy (Printed DVD box + Printed CD w/ your serial number) shipped to you
3. Boxed copy shipped to you (as above)

Thanks for your interest.

Ahem, I seem to remember having to actually get off my keister and driving to a store to get GGWaW. It was not available for order online.

Just nitpicking, I am really not that lazy.[:'(]

Thanks for the info, sir!

You're right, that was the exception to the rule because it was also a retail release, so we could not release a simultaneous game on demand copy (though one is available now).

Is WPO a WitP add-on or a stand alone?[&:]
Whatever it is I am looking forward to play that game.[:D]

War Plan Orange will be a stand-alone title per the current plan. It will not require ownership of WitP to play and will be priced affordably.

Really? I'd been under the impression that it was an add-on. Oh well, guess I won't make it to 4 WitP installs...[:)]

It originally was to be an expansion, but because it took longer than expected, I was able to add in so much stuff that the game, barring the engine, was able to stand on its own two feet. That's why in the New Screens thread I said I was incredibly busy. New game = new interface.

Does that mean we'll get things like scroll bars that behave like real scroll bars, data grids that are user formatable, data grids that allow export of data (even if only by copy/paste), and other useful UI changes? Or, in this case, does a new UI simply mean changed background photos/graphics?

The interface, as in functionality, is WitP's. This is because it is built off of the WitP engine. After all, if WPO's UI was changed to the extent of functionality changes, it would be necessary to refit them to WitP.

That said, there are a few changes, but unfortuneatly nothing like what you described.

To change the UI that drastic would mean much more time before release, lots of coding changes (holding up WiR aswell), and would need to be refitted to WitP aswell. While I would like those things, the basic functionality of the UI will be similar to WitP/UV.
