LCU Readiness on Transports and other things

Post by Ricochet »

I've noticed that when LCUs are loaded on transports, both 'Liner' and AP, that their readiness is now dropped to 24 rather that the old 49. Is this a deliberate change?

I haven't gotten to the point in v2.1 where I see LSTs yet; are the readiness levels for LCUs dropped from the previous 74??

If LCUs readiness are going to be at 24 aboard APs, opposed assaults are going to get a lot bloodier; maybe good, maybe bad??

In response to the problem of Rangoon not being included in the routine supply mechanism for both sides... I've seen it, but it can be dealt with. As the Allies, I managed to hold on to Rangoon, by making a maximum effort and using Transport TFs to continually keep Rangoon supplied. I diverted the 18th Brit to Rangoon immediately and made an intensive effort to hold it. In Aug '42 I've got '25000' supplies built up solely through transport TF. The key was to get the Armoured Brigade in to Rangoon ASAP.

The Japanese AI is much improved with one exception. The Japanese have taken Rabaul early, but the carriers are not being used effectively. The AI doesn't appear to be adequately keeping Manila supplied, resulting in the forces attacking Bataan being at low readiness. The AI has placed the carrier TFs at Lingayen, to attack Bataan. For 3!!! months, May to August, the carriers have been launching strikes against Bataan, for little effect against the entrenched and low readiness forces there. The Japanese advance is effectively halted because of this.

Reaction moves... The Japanese were able to reaction move a TF from Saigon to Rangoon!!! Now this is less that the 15 range, as the crow flies, but going all the way around Singapore?!?? Doubt this can be solved, but everyone should be aware of this nevertheless.

Bettys and Nells... Due to the range of the Nell, it will always be escorted; as long as a Fighter group is based with it. However, the Betty can obviously out range the Zero. When flying against TFs this isn't a problem. Even when going up against an American carrier TF, the high losses are worth the damage inflicted. But, when the AI flys extended range missions against bases with full fighter groups, they get slaughtered. Possible solution; hard code groups equipped with Bettys to fly either Naval Interdiction or Night missions; but not regular 'Day' missions.

Johnston I. ... For some reason the software won't 'exert' a full AZOC around Johnston. All of the other CenPac bases will have an appropriate AZOC, but Johnston will only have a small 2 radius AZOC. The patrol A/C stationed there will fly anti-sub missions normally.

My feeble memory recalls this has been around since the beginning, and is Johnston specific.

It also may have something to do with the type of aircraft you put on Johnston or fuel supply.

Fighter-Bombers,Bombers, and SBDS all project an AZOC, not pure fighter tho.
