Do colonial regiments do anything?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Do colonial regiments do anything?

Post by marirosa »

In a game with SPA i got the two military upgrades Colonial Regiments. In the manual it say you get (1 +colonies/20 )*2 militia each spring levy (that is april turn?).

As i have 73 colonies i was expecting to get 9 mil. Two years passed and still waiting. Bug?

Well, finally i found the answer.

If you have Feudal Dues 0, then you get no colonial levies. I raised feudal dues just a notch and now i am getting 9 militia every april.

That is unexpected - thanks for finding it out, and thanks for sharing the info!

Well, as this question had more than 100 views but no answer, i believed it deseerved a bit of testing... and i based my long term strategy on such upgrades (Naval Guns, Colonial Warfare I & II and Colonial Regiments I & II) so I HAD TO FIND WHY DIDN'T WORKED [:@] .

Marirosa,
Thanks for your insight! I alsways seem to be playing Britain and I have always felt that the Colonial upgrades would really help me. I guess I wasn't smart enough to figure out if they were even working! Thanks again

Did you have to raise it to a whole feudal level, or just a few ticks?

If you get 12 income from Feudal (one notch rigth of zero) you get the expected colonial regiments. You get 1 militia plus one more for each 20 colonies.

With Colonial Regiments II i was wondering if the system carry on the decimals before doubling, but it seems it is not the case. It doesn't matter if you have 20 or 39, you keep getting 4 aditional militias, but if you reach 40, you get 6 of them.

I don't know what happens if in April you are earning more than 0 but less than 12 dues, or if you have more than one notch or one notch and a half. Remember the interface don't allow you to set in the middle; you can either mark 0 or 12 (or 25, 37, 50, 62 or 75).

I was trying to test what happens changing Feudal Levies, but i failed to make a scenario to test it.
