treaties - who's first ?

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

I never know what I should click first in a treaty clause: My nation or the other nation i propose treaty to ?

For some types of treaties it shouldn't matter - alliance for example. However, I have found bugs where the AI values the treaty clause a little differently based on the sequence - I am not sure if we managed to get rid of all of these or not (if you find one that seems wrong, let us know!)

For others, it works differently depending on who you select: "Austria promises to remain at peace with France" permits France to declare war if they want to.

It might make a difference in some cases, but I might be mistaken because the attitude thing at the bottom is not always updated correctly. But suffice to say, when I wanted to form alliance as Russia - I put Turkey with Russia, they weren't interested. Then I put Russia with Turkey and they wanted to reject it, which means I knew I could sweeten the deal. If they're not interested, they won't bother at all.

At the same time, I've had one that said they would reject, but they accepted it. (A 2 province of mine trade for 1 province of theirs plus a liberation).

Also, sometimes when I make a deal.. it's not the same I wanted. I wanted all 70 of Britains colonies, and I used the copy button. But when it was accepted, they only gave me 30, so I think it didn't register the copied clauses. (Also why the heck would Britain give up all their colonies????? India? Canada? I mean seriously... to Russia???)

I also noticed, that when you make a succesful treaty (for colonies for example), they're no longer interested in any more treaties with that same clause.

Just some observations...

I suffered similarly. I was never provided with accurate prediction about my proposals. (The sentence always included "reject", even while I was proposing to give the maximum money I could to Sweden for its newly conquered Norway.)
Besides, when I told Spain (post to its surrender) to concede two specified provinces to me, it finally gave them to the other party but didn't tell me it was about to, and the current mechanism doesn't allow me to make a new terms-of-surrender proposal for the other provinces or the other punitive clauses as compensation, and the original proposal just went ahead without any gain for me.
Moreover, there are some other glitches. When I required Sweden to share depots while I would be sharing mine, the proposal turned out to be just my sharing depots. In another case, when I right-clicked on Prussia to offer alliance, it never concurred. But when I made a treaty stating "I declared alliance with it on a certain month", it accepted. (There were not any factors affecting our relationship. No trade, no diplomats bet'n us. No advisor is on.)

LOL one of the ones I liked I offered a Province to Prussia for 700 bucks, they would reject it, but it is the same one that over the last 6 months, they had been spending some 500-700 bucks a month on to make them like them ????

another side

I said I would defend the UK for 4 years
UK would enforce peace with me for 4 years
and we become allies

2 months later they break the alliance

did they just break the treadty or not

something on DOW by the AI

can anything be done to make the AI be at least a little less goofy about DOW, last game
Prussia, Aus and Turk all DOW me, Prussia was losing a war with Sweden and UK, Turkey was losing a war with Russia, and Aus was losing a War with Spain and Turkey

a year later, none of them had even had the chance to come close to my border, and I was busy picking off there weak cities that were close to me

no reason for them to DOW on me, if they are already stuck in a war, that they are not winning

HARD_Sarge
(in fact, I was trying to be peaceful, the AI kept starting and loseing wars with me)

Hmm, this reminds me that Portugese troops kept attacking my Britons after I unloaded them on the two provinces. With conspicuous numerical superiority, my Britons just scared the Portuguese away without any bloodshed. Month after month, though, the hopeless Portuguese could never be less relentless, they being coming and retreating at the first moment. No reason, right?
