Unit limit in citys

Post by jinks »

Not sure its a bug but I did read in the manual that lvl 3 wall is equel to 3 division max in a city, so when I put a corps/army unit into a city..empty of course, is it supposed to take up units in em so I can go beyound the 3 division max in that city. Just wondering, because I found out I could put alot of units in a city that way.

I have to other things I would love to see in next patch besiders undo [;)]

1. Being able to disband units

2. Being able to disable free militia/feudal units you get for free. Playing as Turkey atm and I'm real geting annoyed at the system producing 20-21 militia every april, so if I could stop that or reduce numbers like telling build max # of free feudal leaves would be realy nice.

It is true you can put more units inside a city using a container, but be carefull: when the corp/army leave the city, all the "extra" units do not exist anymore.

For example, in a city with 3 walls you put a corp with 5 divisions. The turn you order the corp to leave the city it will consist of the 3 first divisions. Where are the other 2? they do not exist anymnore.

.... indeed this also answer your other request. Is a cheap way to disband units [:D]

Yep. This is part of a bug involving sub-containers (viz. a container type unit inside another container type unit) in general.

It's on my list...

Your levies are a product of a system that has been entrenched for hundreds of years. The Beylerbeylis, or the provincial governors, raise the militia not only for service in the Sultan's army, but also to quell the frequent insurrections as well as to enhance their own stature. If you wish to reduce the levies, you will be changing the power structure of the Ottoman Empire and will suffer a drop in national morale, and the reforms will take quite a while to implement. All this is successfully modeled when you slide your Feudalism slider to the left.

I'll have to check again, but I've put corps in cities before and don't remember losing any unit qhen the corps leave. Sometimes I think I've a different version of the game. I've had inf evolved into guards (not imperial guard though), AI arty missile attacks, from across a mountain range, and some other funny things.

If you set your draft parameters correctly for Turkey, you will get decent infantry built during the spring levy, not militia. It's dependent on your barracks level in the province as well. As long as you have two levels or more, you get infantry.

You still will want to reduce your feudalism, but I wait until I'm an empire and have built a large quantity of happiness up (with the huge amounts of luxuries Turkey has).

If I rule Turkey I want to be able to say " Don't raise any more militia we already got a standing army of 1.5 mill" . I WAN'T them to follow orders else I'm going to terminate anyone not following my orders to the point. Rasing militia if you don't need em is plainly stupid.

I don't get it, most of my barracks are lvl 3+, but still only militia. Its 1815 and its just droped 30 militia in my lap[X(]

Your draft morale level must be correct too. Look on the nation tab of the Economy screen. It will be at the bottom of the center column. Has to be 4 or above I believe.

Also, the number of levies you get is dependent on your feudal level. There's long paragraph about it that explains how the number are calculated. It is affected by how many you currently have in play, I just don't recall how off the top of my head.

I know it works, because I do it in my games. My levies are all infantry with morale levels equal to my draft morale level.

I haven't been presented with such a chance to exploit a disbanding bug (certainly I prefer to see the back of this bug). Whenever my corps or armies had more divisions than a city's space (in terms of wall numbers) could accomodate, I wasn't permitted to harbour the containers there. I did try to first shrink the number of units in the container to fit the size before lodging them, but after which I couldn't shelter any more unit there.
