Post by David Heath »

Ok Guys

I am sorry for the long delay, but you will be happy to know that Pacific War v2.2 is now online and available for downloading. I really want to thank Mike Wood, Jeremy Pritchard and Rich Dionne for all there hard work on this project. War in the Pacific development is moving alone and we will now be spending a lot more time with its development. Have a Blessed Christmas and enjoy Pacific War v2.2 As always please let us know what you think.

David

Great news! I love the work you've put in and I love getting back into this game I bought off the shelf for $back in 1993.

Curious question.. what happens if you update and go back to a game started and played for 2 years (game time) with 2.1?

The new executable should be completely compatible with saved games from version 2.1. Maybe less so, with the OBC files.

Have Fun...

The only compatability problem has to do with Ship Icons from 2.2 to 2.1 or to any previous OBC. The game doesn't like when Saved games have different graphic designations than the OBC41 file. For example, if the YORKTOWN class used the ESSEX graphic in the new OBC file (which it doesn't) then if you try to reload a saved game that didn't have this Icon switch, an 'error' will appear stating that icons are wrong. The game is still playable, BUT, you will see the icons as they are in the OBC41 (ie. they will switch back to how the OBC41 has them). Otherwize, there are no problems.
