China-Wars

Post by Sander »

I've beat China!.

But:
Their armies are rebuilding at the american coast after a while.

I can't transfer planes and armies from china!

Plane production is visible way before it can
actually be produced!

China is not too realistic, some pressure as Japan and it falls over nicely!

Yep, all China Exp Force & Kwantung can not be transferred. Do not ever transfer forces there that you don't want t lose

Early planes are sort of meant to be experimental squadrons waiting for the new type to arrive in full production

In v2.2 China is a whole new proposition. All Japan has there are some dozen division-sized armies and three actual divisions. It is difficult to impossible to mass the forces needed to drive out the Chinese. Probably this is for the best - now you can forget China as a factor in the game.

ON the other hand, the computer leaves the punching bag Chinese airforce to get slaughtered turn after turn (as the allies, I pull it out to India to save the lost aircraft production and deny the experience to the IJAAF and IJNAF), so your air forces in the China area get some nice experience upgrades. Build up Haiphong and Hainan, transfer in some Bettys and Zeros, set an occupied Chinese airfield as the target, and watch your groups blow and bomb away several dozen planes a week. Soon your planes are ready for the big show.

Gotta agree with grumbler.

China is a huge opportunity to build experienced air groups late in the war. Late in the war JAP airgroups show up in the wron planes at 40% exp. Changing the group nocks em down to around 35%. These guys can not take off and land without high casualties.

Stick em in a base on/near the coast of china and watch their experience climb.

If the us declared war on china and did the same thing... I would be in trouble ; ). This is definately a key to staying in the game later in the war as the Japanese in this game.

I'm using 2.2 and still have just about conquered China.

secret was to almost forget the CEF forces and swing 2 divisions from my all conquering Indian forces. Thus I can conquer China & pull out the high exp. troops later.

It also stops some early b29 raids as the closest bases are mine!

You still can conquer China if you send in units not attached to CEA. It is sort of gamey when playing against another PBEM player, as, units attached to CEA and Nationalist China suffer an activation penalty, which other units don't suffer from. In reality, these Chinese Armies would have been more effective against intruding Japanese divisions from Burma then they can be represented in the game.

Here, here. This is an example of how the PacWar "everything-is-a-base" idea breaks down. In reality there should be fifty or more Chinese "bases" to represent the sheer size of China, the same is true of the US, and India. In the situation where the attacker is faced with a struggle to take 50+ bases in jungle terrain with all the logistical problems that implies, the idea of just occupying the coastal areas where the resources are makes a lot more sense.

The all-important truth of v2.2 is that conquering China gains you nothing! It used to be that a China victory released about 25% of the units there every year. Now it releases nothing, as far as I can tell (yes, the 3 divisions in China appear in Haiphong, but they do so regardless of what you do in China).

A big improvement, IMO. The Japanese units in China are now armies and so stay for good. Yeah, you can take land in China if you want to, but ultimately there is no point. Thus, China stays the sideshow that it should be.
