BoomBoxes arrive at Baker Island

Post by AdmNelson »

1/10/1942

Three old and slow American BoomBoxes made a visit to Baker Island. Imperial Marines adimred the fire work display. Upon waking up in the morning the BoomBoxes were still at Baker. The marines have sent a request to higher commands to remove the Americans from the area because of extreme volume of noise that was destroying the senerity of this Island paradise.

Rabaul Area---- Task forces will be leaving for Lunga and other jungle vacation spots. Marines have been ordered to bring boots, rifles, ammunition, and loin cloths only. Natives to provide the rest.

Japanese Ministry of the Enviroment

Post by fabertong »

Press Release......
Ministy of the Envoroment......
We propose a scheme to take the old tired American Boomboxes and convert them into new reefs for coral and other sea creatures to enjoy, because let's be frank, they're not much use as battleships.

Soon Ambonia will fall also. Transports are loading and soon will be at Lunga. Maybe the Americans will be sending their BoomBoxes to disturb the senerity of this jungle paradise. If so the marines have made plans.

1/11/42 Dutch Crusiers?

Post by AdmNelson »

56th Brigade has landed at Ambonia and where are the Dutch Crusiers. My surface fleet is setting at Ambonia waiting for the 2 round bout and the Dutch are no where in sight. Maybe they liked beating up on unescorted transports and have run away. I can now send the KB and its mission of seek and destroy.

Cruise(transports) ships are loading passengers for that jungle pardise called Lunga. Should be sailing from port tomorrow and cruise down the slot to Lunga. There will no other ports of call and liberty till Lunga has been reached. It does look like the Americans are planning a reception. A single TF was spotted 600 miles of Lunga headed in that direction. Because, the KB is away are the mice are going to play? Hope so!

Philippines-- Losing the 48th Inf div warped some where; where only the programmers know or don't, is going to make taking Philippines that much harder. I will start planning a much longer seige that will that probably take 3-4 months to complete. As CIC I don't want expansion to slow down because of this.

South Pacific Vacation spots

Post by AdmNelson »

Task Force Lunga has left from Rabaul and will be landing at Lunga in 5 days. Sailors and marines are looking forward to this new vacation spot. The natives at Rabaul were not as friendly as they earlier in the month. Something to do with pillaging and carnal activities by the sailors and marines.

KB will be entering the DEI area after refueling. The need to destroy Allied aircraft has become more important since the torpedoing of the Haruna and the Kongo with planes from Soerabaja.

1/20/42 Dutch Crusiers? Still not around

Post by AdmNelson »

The KB has started "SEEK AND DESTROY" Found AKs south of Timor running to OZ sunk two and the Dutch 7th Naval baseforce is swimming. Next hopefully the rest of the task force can be sunk and all of the 7th will be swimming. The KB is going to continue its cruise.

North of Lunga PT boats engaged a couple of Imperial battleships and where a couple of the plywood boats were sunk. Damage was reported from one of the destroyer captains, on further review in the morning it was surmised that it had to be few birds flying into the ships and couldn't have been shell damage from the PTs.

1/21/42 Lions, Tigers, and Bears OH MY

Post by AdmNelson »

American carrier(s) make present at Lunga. One airstrike and the amount of aircraft would be from one carrier. Lexington was spotted with two other TFs. A battle group of 2 Imperial battleships is close to being in range of Lunga. Rabaul is loaded withover 60 zeros and 80 nells and betties. American airstrike only sinks 1 PG. All the other transports are still at Lunga which should make for an interesting next day. I wanted to find the American carriers looks they found some of my transports instead.

Timor area--- KB sinks 5 more AKs and heavily damaged 3 more. The 7th Dutch Naval baseforce was in the TF that lost 4 AKs so maybe the unit is gone. The KB would take at least 8-10 days to reach Lunga, so will not even try. Ryujo and a couple of CVEs might try. I am not counting on that happening.

1/24/42 ---Poor 115th

Post by AdmNelson »

RAF 115th baseforce was sent to Guadacanal by the Americans-- It probably was one of the only units in December to reached Lunga. Imperial Marines landed and forced the 115th to retreat. American carriers made an appearance sinking a PG. I sent the IJN carriers to intercept the American carriers, but they ran and now are hiding at last report at Noumea. While the IJN was chasing the carriers two US DDs picked up the 115th, but unfortunately they ran head long into the IJN carriers( names are left out for security reasons). To say the least now the 115th is swimming with the fishes along with the sailors of the 2 DDs

Timor--- The 56th is loading and will be moving to Lautem. After which it will load up and secure Koepang. By securing Timor it will isolate Java from OZ.

Miners Convention.

Post by AdmNelson »

Intercepts of radio transmissions--- That there was a miners convention at Thursday Island, Given the fact that over the last month 4 IJN subs were attacked and damaged in the straights between Thursday Island and OZ. A carrier task force was sent to see if there was any beer left. Upon finding out that all the beer was gone and all native females were taken. Many pilots jumped into their aircraft and sent a message.

A sneaky peak at China.

Post by fabertong »

The circled bits are Stalemates and the arrowed bits are Japanese offensives.....Yenen I think will fall in two weeks or so and then I'll have to decide whether to try to clear the railine or take Northern China. I'm outnumbered at Changsha, but think I'll hold.....If Tom shifts my troops at Changsha there will "be trouble at mill".......I may have to wait till Singapore falls, and Scott reinforces me before taking Mytk..etc.......

1/29/42 Black Hole

Post by AdmNelson »

American carriers were sighted for two days headed in direction to seamed to a straight line to Gili Gili. Now searches show nothing at all. Is this a black hole in the Coral Sea? Transports will start to load for Gili Gili. If the American carriers are sighted within my operation air range form Rabaul I might rethink Gili Gili. But, we are Japanese full steam head.

Tranports headed to Timor were hit by B-17s from Darwin. One destroyer is now headed to Kendari in hopes of not sinking.

1/30/42 Black Hole Day 2

Post by AdmNelson »

Still no sightings of the American carriers. I don't believe they went back to Noumea, which means they are probably in the Coral Sea, somewhere. Are they chasing the small CVs that were pounding Thursday Island ships? They have retired to Ambonia and and Sorong. Transports are loading at Rabaul and will be headed to Gili Gili. Darwins seams to have quite a few aircraft all of a sudden. Do they know that Gili Gili is the target?

Timor-- Lauthem is a level two air field and been loaded with aircraft. Two days of sailing and we will secure the base. Darwin is also loaded with aircraft. Where do they keep getting all these aircraft? It must be a shell game.

The war is going to be heating up.

Heating up indeed....Tom has launched a counter offensive at homan driving my troops back. He shock attacked and we ran. I knew we were outnumbered but had counted on the quality of my troops to even the score. Most of my reserve troops are involved at Yenen, In fourteen days I get two new Divisions + I have the 25th Div. arriving from Manchuria...then I can halt his advance. But the next fourteen days could be serious trouble. He also vastly outnumbers me at Changsha.....don't tell him!!!!
