Argh!!!

Post by Rossj »

I've resolved myself that this is a beta release.
I can deal with the aperiodic plato MFC crashes.
I've been careful with saves so I don't loose costly unit builds.
I am intensely annoyed by the Provence Ownership Issue...conquer it, but both the color scheme and production is fouled up.

But these next issues are the last straw...an entire corps with 45,000 troops just vanished betwwen the Aug 96 and Sep 96 turns.

Wait there's more...Large French/Polish army attacks East Prussia...French win they came from a depot in Thorn, had a depot in E.P. Prussians surrender and the army is warped to Vilna during a snow storm with no depot. There were tens of thousands of attrition losses, many units were below minimum level and were lost...what B.S. The A.I. should have sent them back to depot.

More, you want more...I don't buy the notion that the Papacy is going to become a protectorate of any non Catholic country and certainly not of Turkey. For that matter, I doubt that any European nation outside of the Balkans is going to become a protectorate of Turkey, but it happens all the time.

O.K., how about this...You beat Russia. They cede some of the southern provences, you garrison them, but they're filled with Cossacks, just standing there. What's up with that?

I don't know if these issues are being addressed in the patch. I hope so and soon.

It is a great frustration as it is.. It makes an interesting and fun game much less so.

You are too kind. It will take a couple of patches before this thing works its way up to "beta" status........

I continued to play the game were the French 1st Corp disappeared...a few months later a German provence surrendered...behold, the 1st Corps stealthly captured the provence...I went to the military screen and there it was, but it wasn't on the map and I couldn't tell it to move.

Wasn't there a poll a couple years back about you on the UV forum? Seems to me, that another one needs to be commissioned....

Hi Ross
on that crop that went missing, are you sure it went missing and was not covered up by another flag of a different country ?

(now, I not seen one of my units get covered like that, but have seen others)

you dont have a save from about the time it went missing ? you could check the miltary screen and see it if is listed ?

just ideas, I have no idea what happened

If you would like, please send me the save game (.sve and .rep files). It sounds like an overflow problem (too many units in a province to be displayed). A workaround: right click + ctrl on the province to open up a list of all your units in the province, then select the unit you want from the list.

Vacation?? I spent all my money on CoG (which is unplayable--see this thread). So I can't afford a vacation! (Let alone more than one......)

I found the units on the military screen and in the provence details screen...I told the individual divisions to "go to" a neighboring provence and they displayed on screen the next month. Unfortunately, the corps didn't have a "go to" option and is stuck in Dusseldorf. The exact same thing happened to an army of Polish units in Warsaw. Again I got them out with the "go to" command, but the army was stuck.

Your thought that it was an overflow problem from having too many units in the provence I suspect is right. In both cases I massed huge forces in these provences.

I don't know the exact parameters of what triggers an overflow. I might experiment with it.

Any thought on how to get the corps/army out of the city?....

P.S. forget that last question...I tried the right click-cntrl and it worked.

It's basically province size. That's it.

Yeah, I think that might be the trick--remove your corps/armies from the city, and then they can move-to.
