Since I am turning the WPO map into a more old time paper map, I'd like to take the time to fix some of the misspellings on it. If you guys could shoot me a few, it would allow me to use the time I would spend looking over it to work on the manual and interface. Thanks for all help.
And yes, Trincomalee was the first fix.

RE: Map Misspellings
Two things....
1) what list of map names/bases are you using? Can you provide a list of them?
2) can we get a sample of this map? Sounds great !!
Thank you

RE: Map Misspellings
It is the same map as WitP v 1.6 in regards to names, but I am fixing a few errors. The main difference is that San Fransico is now known as Mare Island (the principle base of US ships in the SF area), and San Diego is San Pedro (the principle US Naval Base, until 1940. Also, in the first "patch" that I want to get to Matrix in a few days (Mainly to add the 15th United States Infantry to Tientsin, China) I will also be changing Trimcomalee to Trincomalee (to align with the new map), and capitalize a few of the Island names.
The map color is kinda like Oleg's map mod # 3 on Spooky's site, but not quite as Orange, and is more of a brown paper look.
Time permitting, I want to do an alternate, no hex only map, that is more like an older 1920's-40's map, that does not show terrain, but kind of like in the movie Midway, with all ocean being light blue, and all land being a tan, with black place names. It won't be the principle map, but if I can get it finished it will provide a more time appropriate alternate (although plotting land attacks would be difficult).

Take a look at the documentation I provide with my WitP map - there are A LOT of name fixes in there.

Tankerace,
San Pedro is north of L.A. next to Long Beach. I spent 4 miserable months (during an overhaul) in the Todd Shipyard, San Pedro back in the mid-80's.
IIRC during the 1920's San Diego only had destroyer base (32nd Street) and a naval air station (NAS North Island) with flying boats. I think the submarine base at Point Loma, San Diego hadn't been built yet.

Last time I look at a small map that says San Diego and San Pedro. Will fix.

RE: Map Misspellings
Hi Tankerace,
To save you the trouble of doing it yourself, I have compiled all of the base name fixes/changes from my scenario mods. Most of these are fixing mistakes, but some of them are just my opinions (e.g. Milne Bay instead of Gili Gili) or usage of names more correct for the period (e.g. Taipei/Taikohu).

RE: Map Misspellings
Thanks, that will help.
And yes, I agree with Milne Bay, I put that in in the last build.
This list will be of great help though, thanks!
