Arrgghh! The Patch ain't working right for me

Post by Grand_Armee »

Sorry to be melodramatic. Anyway, I was digging the patch till I had to restart a saved game.

So, I restarted the game, loaded my last autosave...not the pre-patch autosave but one after implementing the patch...and made my moves.

It then went through a few moves on the screen then took me back to where I would either choose a local game, or load a local game. I tried three times, and still the same thing.

It does the same thing if I try to play any other pre-patch file.

There'd been power outtage while I was in detailed battle. Perhaps that was it because I'm getting other saves to work right. Sorry to cry wolf.

Hi,

Can you please post a zipped copy of the save files that won't load here please? Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi Erik,
Sorry mate, it was the autosave. I edited my first message. It seems to be working alright now. Hopefully I won't have another outtage while in detailed battle

Yes, I had exactly the same problem. Several times the game crashed back to the main meny after installing the patch. First time I didn't know what was happening, thought maybe the fault was somehow my own. Next time it happened, I realised that it was shortly after I clicked End Turn. I restarted the save again, and the game immediately crashed again. And again.

I exited the game, eradicated all old save files, then started it again. I haven't had the problem since, but can't tell for sure, cause I only played one (stable) turn and then saved after completing one long battle and being taken to the second.

Haven't had time to play since then.

If it happens again, I'll try to send you a save file.

I've had two CTD's since the patch. Both were on the first turn of detailed combat. Well, actually, it didn't even get to the first turn as the crash happened as soon as the map scrolled to show my troops. But no crashes during a battle and no 'both sides rout' battles thankfully. So, overall, the patch has improved things greatly for me. [:)]

Hi Reg,
What are you system specs, please? The crash happened after entering detailed battle when it first showed your troops but before you could move, or did it happen when it scrolled to show your troops on the main-strategic map?

System specs are Pentium 2.2, 1.25 Gb of RAM, 256Mb 6800GT card, Windows XP SP2.

Sorry, yes, the former of your two suggestions. The screen shows the detailed battle display, starts at the edge to show me that 'XXXX reinforcements have arrived', then displays my troops for a split second before the Plato error box comes up. So I don't even get the chance to move.
