Artillery can shoot over mountains

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Artillery can shoot over mountains

Dunno whether this has been mentioned before but when you have (normal) artillery on a hill and an enemy unit is behind a mountain within range you can shoot at it and hit it. a bit unrealistic I think...

I once got hit by a missile attack. The attaking unit turned to be and arty in a watch tower, firing at my inf over a mountain range. Of course, at first I didn't know from where I was been attacked, I couldnt' see through the mountains. Later I advanced pass the hills and discovered the arty firing at my unit.
However, I wasn't able to use my arty the same way, so I thought it was a one time problem related to the arty being in the tower.

Gotta be careful with this. Although there might just possibly be a bug here, your line of sight isn't necessarily the same as their line of sight - I have often been shot up by people I couldn't see yet.

For example, they may be able to see further that you can due to advanced scouting or unit type.

Agree about the LOS, but they were shooting over the mountains. Unless they had the cruise missile upgrade, I cant’ see how they could. It only happened once though, not a big deal in my opinion.

I don't see why this is unrealistic. As I learned in physics, a cannon ball should be able to strike the side of a mountain, forcing a rock of similar mass on the other side of the mountain to shoot out and hit the enemy...

Mmmmmm.... the old geophysical attack option..... start a massive rock slide wiping out the enemy reserves with one concentrated salvo, so long as it is the reverse slope which comes tumbling down and not the slope your own troops are at the bottom of[:(]
