Odd ally

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Odd ally

Post by carburo »

What is this? As France I just defeated Austria but I’m still at war with Russia. Spain is my ally and is at war with both of them. I granted Austria free passage. The Spaniards and Austrians fight regularly on my lands, while I’m chasing the annoying random Cossacks (they have to go or be radically tweaked in the next patch) when I find myself in a Spain-France vs. Austria-Russia battle. I think I got involved because I’m at war with Russia.

Well, the Austrians attack my garrisons and the Spaniard divisions, but not my regular units. I end up chasing the lone Cossack all over the battlefield and waiting until the Austrians and Spaniards finish their business.

In another campaign, my Spaniards friends have and army parked in Switzerland fighting the Russians and Austrians. I have la Grande Armee in Wurttemberg, supposedly in its way to Styria, and every turn, when I try to advance, the Spanish Army calls me as reinforcement, and I end up in Switzerland. It doesn’t matter what I do, the Russians and Austrians keep loosing the battles in Switzerland, but next turn the send their armies again and the Spaniards keep calling my main army as reinforcement. The funny thing is I already have a strong enough army in Switzerland, and don’t need la Grande Armee to defeat the Austrians and Russians there. My idea was to go directly to Styria and conquer Linz in my way there while holding them with my other army. How do I convince the Spaniards they don’t need to call all my forces to help them?
