screen update frequency

is there a way to use windows's frequency rather than 60hz?
the game is great, but i hate the flickering.
my system is:
P3-500
asus p2b
creative annihilator 2

For me the screen refresh rate is 85 hz, that being what my ancient monitor is capable of. however I'm using an utility named Hz Tool that lets you define what refresh rates to use and it stomps over the Windoze's refresh rate wants. It might help you two.
