New Leader Generated

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Has anyone gotten a new leader with version 1.1?

I played two years as France on 1.0 and got two leaders, since then I have played another 2 years on v1.1 and have fought at least 10 battles where I took the minimum 2000 casualties but not one leader.

It seems to be working, it's just perhaps too rare right now.

New leader names should come from the commanders1.txt file for France, so if I have two leaders that are not in that file or the scenario start file as reinforcements, then where might they have come from. It might be the two I got are captured, in which case I have had no new leaders. I was hoping it was not so rare as I like the 1792 scenario but do not want to add Napoleon and company and see if I can generate some from fighting. I am not at war with everyone but England so I should get lots of chances.

Edit: After further review of the leader file I found the two I got and they are reinforcements so I have yet to see a leader get created. I have it correct that the chance is 16% if your side takes at least 2000 casualties?

IIRC, I read that the probability of getting a new leader after a battle with 2000+ casualties would be .16. It would follow that, on average, I'd get a new leader for every +- 7th 2000+ casualties battle. I've had a lot more than that, and still no new leader.

I'm not saying you can't get the new leaders, but that either I've had an incredibly bad luck, or the probability is actually lower than .16.

I've never gotten a new leader yet but I managed to kill off all the others save a few here and there!

Eric keeps telling me that there is code in the game to create leaders after battle, but I still haven't seen it work in any version - so it ain't just you!

Never.

I don't know where it was posted, but it was part of the post about if we could change names of leaders

as the person didn't like having his Diplos named Dip, and his Leaders namded Commander

so I think some one has seen one or two come up

but, I not one of them :)

Lots of battles with England, no new leaders -- and in the 1792 Campaign you really could use them.

H_S,
I posted that, but I was referring to the leaders you get at the beginning of the balanced scenario. I said I didn't like it because of the 7 guys named "Commander".

Ok, looks like no one has seen a leader appear.

Eric, could it be that the code to check if a new leader appears is working but the code to create that leader and place him on the board does not work correctly?

ah
okay thank you

I remembered part of it, and since my Diplo I built was named Dip, I thought maybe you had gotten your commanders in combat

back to square one then

it works, only not in our Games [:-]

Well it might not be working then!

I got a new leader when I played the game right before we released the retail version -- several new leaders in fact. But maybe something we did in the last few days broke that part of the code.

I'll put it on my bug list...
