Possible Treaty bug.

Post by Latour_Maubourg »

Don't know whether this has been mentioned before but, I started with france in 1805.
Austria and Russia have an alliance. So far so good. I beat Austria (save the game) and force them in the Terms of surrender to declare war to Russia. However Austria (they still had a fair amount of troops) doesn't do that, not after 2 months not after 3 months
Loaded the save game and tried a pledge of defence. No go again.

Austria sticks to the alliance with Russia and allows those bl**ding cossacks to pass through their provinces and annoy me.

hi, also, when a nation surrenders to you, if you copy a "cede province" clause and copy it, then change the name of the province to another the cost in "surrender points" is not added for the second province.

So you can basicly have them cede all their provinces except the province with the capital in it without adding points? Interesting.

I have never seen it do that

I basicly copy most of more clauses first, then amke the changes to them to match what I want to get

can you repeat it ?

are you makeing a clause, then copieing it twice, or just one time ?

will look the next surrender I get

maybe i are wrong and when it happens to me the clause was incompleted when i was seeing the surrender points in the treaty page, i'm going to try some save game with some enemy near surrender to reproduce it and say what i have obtained.

with best regards,

alaric.

hi, just try my save game and it not works, you only receive the last province in the list, also the problem remains, the surrender point limit only show the cost of the last province and all others aren´t present in the cost but present in the treaty, use of the copy with ceded provinces is the bug if any i think.

I find that the programme does not seem to "see" the copied clause until you click on one of the variables within the copy clause, even if you do not change it, the programme now seems to recognise that it is there and adjusts your surrender points.

okay, I think I follow what is going on

if they clauses are still all the same, they are not being added up, as it is still just one clause as far as the AI sees it

you tell the defeated foe, to cede you Flanders, and then copy that 10 times, it still just shows the one clause, if you click okay, the program is only going to see one of the clauses as being right, and the rest as bad clauses and skip over them

don't think it is so much a bug, more it just don't look right when you see it

IE the Surrender treaty (or other treaty) are not really treaties until you click on send

but will still try and look at it when I get my next surrender

funny, I in the middle of a Peaceful game

You sound to be right to me H-S, if you change one of your ten "Flanders" clauses to "Tyrolia", the points expended total then goes up.

To answer your original question, any time you impose impossible terms on your foe, they will lose glory instead.

Your terms are impossible because Austria will not declare on Russia if (a) they are allied, or (b) they are both at war with the same power. So, you need to have them quit fighting whoever they're fighting (most likely Spain), and tell Austria to break it's alliance with Russia.

Interesting but unrealistic I'm afraid. They don't have anything to choose from. I impose my terms on them. That's why they surrender. It's not like they surrender and say: "France we surrender but we refuse to declare war on our ally". I wanted Austria to declare war on Russia so I could get rid of those unrealisticly placed cossacks. They don't have anything to choose from. They lost! By the way I didn't see the break up the alliance option in the treaty screen. To the victor the spoils.... If not it would be a limited surrender and not a surrender right? Or in 1812 Austria wouldn't have send a corps against Russia because they once were allies (not that the austrians did that much against the Russians but again that's another story).
