And if there aren't any Matildas, the Solothurn ATR can actually be quite effective.

I have had fair to middlin' luck with the Solothurn. Gas bombs is still my preferred method if I can get my troops close enough. The suppression and smoke that comes along with the gas bomb attack is a help as well.

The Boyz ATR strikes fear in the hearts of my AB drivers and it seems about every Brit infantry squad in N. Africa had them. Ugh.

Erm, the MG42 was NOT primarily a vehicle-mounted weapon. Where'd you hear that?[&:]

Whoops. My bad. Had it backwards. There was a discussion in the German OOB forum at the Depot that dealt with this topic. I was working from my faulty memory. The MG34 was the standard CMG for all German vehicles in the early part of the war and the MG42 came into usage in the last year or two.

If i'm not mistaken the MG3 is a remake of the old MG-42 but chambered for 7.62 Nato, and I imagine it still has that 1200 RPM hehe.

If I recall correctly the US M-60 is almost and exact copy of the MG 42.

Read that the M60 was rather a derivative of the german parachuters FG42 assault rifle!

I've got a couple of quick questions...

1. Do I ever need to change my units stance inside a scenario? Does that affect anything (i.e. defense, etc.?)

2. Should I be using a mod for 8.4?

3. How do I avoid being hit by a Nebelwefer? OUCH - 10 of 11 men died in one squad.

My US infantry is having more success sneaking up on tanks and whacking them. Bazookas, too. I even killed some Stug III with M5's little gun. US likes terrain you can hide in and smoke - lots of smoke.

1. Stance: Only if you're playing with Command&Control on the stance has some effect. It makes defending units to improve their positions, but they cannot move anywhere for they've been ordered to defend. Most players don't use C&C at all, it's only a matter of preference.

2. Mods: You don't necessarily need mods at all. Only if you feel that you need chance or some 'cosmetic' improvements to your game you may try some new mods.

3. Nebelwerfers are German rocket artillery. Your infantry squad just entered into its firing zone and that's it. Nebelwerfers should not harm heavier tanks at all, but they could immobilize Stuarts. Usually Nebelwerfers don't have much ammunition and they are very vulnerable.

It's good to hear that you've progressed with your campaign. Myself I just attempted to destroy Russian T-35 with a Molotov with marginal success.
Don't be shocked, I AM funny.
