new request
I am playing around in the japanes and allied ship sheets
if you have a look at formula columns O and R if either of the conditions are met it will insert the ships location if not met it will insert a blank. There is another condition that could be set and that is if a ship is delayed (is a location in editor) the formula inserts Delayed into location

Now unfortunatly 000 indicateds Delayed and works fine in the formula but they there are KNOWN slots that would need diferrant return of Respawn instead of Delay if condition is 0
I am going to set this up in the Gold (final) version of the sheets you may want to do this
yourself

Sure. That will be easy enough to do.

I see, I´ll move the leaders down to slots 7146+ to get it right then.
About the pilots - neither the get option from the misc sheet, nor the get all from the miscelaneous sheet/toolbar menu are working. Pressing the get pilots on the toolbar menu (has a lock next to it), brings up a message "this is a do-nothing macro". Sorry, but I didn´t see it clearly from your previous post, is the pilot editor working?

What is your email so I can send you the update.

I know why the Get button didn't work in 1.3 (I never reassigned the macro after enabling the feature). I don't know why your menu is still using the map from 1.2. Did you make the menu permanent in your registry? Because that would render it obsolete to updates and add-ins such as the Pilot and PWHex editors.

A sugeston ... a lot of requests for a totally empty data base's so modders could start building a scenario from scratch have have been made over time - would it be possible to have a DELETE all button(function) like the GET button(function) to produce such a database

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Aawulf

I have finished (at least enough to use) my WitPExcel editor. If you used Rich Dionne's PacWar editor or my WiRExcel editor, then you will find this one easy to use and then some.

If you only change a few items here and there, then the game's built-in editor is still your best option.

If you make sweeping changes, design scenerios, desire a more informative interface, want 50 Abn divisions or just want to see all of your LCUs or ships at a given location all together for planning, then you might like this tool.

I have also included production summaries with a production worksheet for planning and designing and an auditor that automatically shows you which HQ's, LCUs, ships and air groups that your leaders are assigned (Easy fix for the leader being overworked with multiple commands).

Edits and manages:
1. Devices
2. HQs
3. LCUs
4. Bases
5. TFs
6. Ship Classes
7. Ships
8. Aircraft
9. Air Groups
10. Leaders
11. Production
12. Pilots
13. Map hexes

Version 1.3 is available for download by Spooky's generosity.

The editor uses Microsoft Excel (designed on XP version of Office, so not sure if older versions of Excel will work or not). Even though I reqularly scan for viruses and spybots, I still encourage the end user to exercise caution and scan first. Macros must be enabled.

WOW!

I just saw this thread (I know... I know... I should have visited this sub-forum more frequently) and saw that something I wanted to do 1 year ago is now already done - _THANKS_ !!!

I did Excel editor for Falcon4 and I planned to do it for WitP (and I and others even talked about this here long long long ago) but it never materialized... and now I saw that this is already accomplished... [:)]

I still assume that you cannot yet edit the PWhex.dat file with your editor yet?

Thanks.

There have been a handful of copies out for the last week or two with the PWHex editor. I was hoping to solve or learn from someone else what the mystery columns are before sending 4.0 to Spooky's, but I won't hold up the PWHex editor anymore for what would fundamentally be cosmetic changes.

In short, we can edit PWHex.dat now with WitPExcel 4.0 and I will send it to Spooky's today or tomorrow.

some major questions

1 Editor One of the biggest time consuming problems with the normal editor is that when you make a change in a ship class 9 (any change) you have to step through all the ships related
to that ship class - relate it to any other class then bring back to correct class to pick up
the change that has been made to that class
2 In the excel sheets any changes to devices is taken care of by Sync ship to class
thats fine but what happens if you change any other pointers such as speed , capacity, delay etc - will the Sync pick up those changes if not can it be made to do so ??
3 In an excersie I am carrying out at the moment all Allied AK's have had 3 refits set up
in 42,43,44 the was to reduce capacity in 41 then gradually increase over the 3 refits. (Large amount of change - by hand) then saved back to Scenario worked fine)
but now I have to look at the ship relation to the new data - do I have to step though each ship using the Editor or can the Excell sheet do it - if not (and this may be outside the scope of the sheets)can this be made to happen would be a real BOON
4 I think this would be impossible but you never kown without asking
In carring out the above task a number of ship class's prior to 420900 (first refit)
had their orginal class number changed to either remove no long needed or to tidy up
the database or to group same type class's together in data base which leads to
How will the spread sheet cope (class to ship association) with class slot number changes - will you have to do by hand or get sheet to to do it...

This may be all Pie in Sky stuff and there are work arounds but very time consuming

now something simple - in doing the above tasks I found that in the ship class section a new column the sorts on nation would be very very helpfull when working on 1 nations ship class's can that be done ??

I reworked China by filtering out every other nation ... at least on the LCU page it works...Its also really handy to sort by Nation then LCUFormationID

Very interesting and I give up I dont know how the sheet can be doing this but
yesterday I changed the speed for all allied AK's in the database (which promted the questions above) I saved the spreadsheet did a sync allied ships to class and did a put
save back to DAT file.
Now I was doing another test this morning on something else and noticed the new speeds I had put into the ship class's were now the ships speed (I had not gone into editor yet which I was going to do later today to step through all the cargo ships to reset the the new speeds)
So obviously the SYNC function is doing more than I thought but I dont know how

This may be a dumb question but what does the PWhex.dat file do?

Its the actual map....the pretty .bmps are just nice covers for the actual structure which is the pwhex.dat.

Cobra Aus
In no particular order:

1. Added new "User Field" (column EJ) to Ship Classes for the user to input the nation if so desired. In that "Nation" isn't a database item and wouldn't be the same for any given slot among the many scenarios, this task would best be handled entering the nation code for each type which would allow sorting and filtering.

2. The Sync should cover all database fields of a ship class.

3. I could enable the Sync feature to adjust the slot number changes by assigning serial numbers to each class that are independent of the class numbers (much like the LCU Sync uses "Formation" to fill the units. The problems in doing this would be that my time is currently very limited for leisure and the size of the editor is already on the excessive side. It is a great idea though and when I have the time I will work on a solution for revision 1.5.

It would take a manual for me to detail everything the editor does and I really do not care to write a manual. Shame on me for not documenting everything for you as I should.

WitPExcel 1.4 (24AUG05)

I just sent to Spooky what is hopefully the last major revision of the editor and I can't imagine having to do a another version unless a game patch requires it.

I was hoping that the mystery fields in the PWHex.dat would have been defined by now, but c'est la vie.

Because the toolbar menu doesn't invade your registry, it has to be created with the button on the Misc sheet every time you reopen the editor.

Tip of the week: When wanting to apply changes to a range of like items, it is sometimes better to use the autofilter and sort a key field by ascending or descending order and when done and before saving changesresort column "A" in ascending order. This enables you to copy and paste ranges that cannot be done with filtering.

Michael Fleshman

What is the "_size" column? What is the "Base Pool=221" column?

As best as I can determine from examining it's use in the standard scenarios, it is an additional modifier for the formation. It is my theory that you could create a unit without entering any of the unit elements and the unit would begin the game as a "_size" formation and be reinforced and replaced as whatever the actual Unit Formation is. Typically, I just copy the formations into the _size columns so they match.
