Some radar things put together...(CHS)

Post by Sardaukar »

So far I've thought about doing following modifications for my entertainment and for checking if they work:

1. SD and later SV radars detecting aircraft for US subs...done that.

2. Surface search radars for late war Catalinas etc.
Have to test.

3. Navigation/bombing radars (H2S/Oboe) for late war night bombing (they are in database so why not use). I have no clue what will happen..have to test.

Bad part of this is that these are for Allied only. I don't think that historically IJN subs and planes had radars, so this may effect to game balance quite strongly. Any ideas what IJN/IJA should have radar-wise ??

Cheers,

M.S.

This site:

Radars

seem to have some info. Maybe I'll add some late war IJN/IJA radars too.

Hashimoto the dude who sank the indianapolis said in his memoirs that the I58 had radar and they used it but it was not as good as lookouts. They also used Metox or whatever that german radar detector was called but i think i read that somewhere else

Pity there is no way I can think to model the IJN radar detectors in WitP. That'd be of some use for IJN.

The game must have had radar detectors at some point. I believe they were Device type 6.

Did you create a new device for it. If you did, what is the information?

Thanks.

If you are asking me if I created a radar detector in the devices, I did not. I know the executable recognizes type 6 as "Radar Detector", but that is the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

Why wait till late war (??), Black Cat squadrons in the South Pacific were being equipped with Air-Surface radar by mid to late 1942.

Ah, that's very useful !! Now if I'd just have time to test all the stuff I've thought !! [8D]

Problem is that I'd have to remove aircraft to make room for upgrades. And since I'm doing this based on CHS, all slots are already taken and I don't want to spoil the good work of CHS crowd, even tho this is only for my own amusement. One solution is to have only some later types like PBM Mariner to have radar to save me from huge workload to think what to remove..[8D]. Even tho that Fireball-thingy is going to make room to F-80A...Sorry again. Ron !! [:D]
