Direct control of Ally Forces

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Direct control of Ally Forces

Post by BenavitzWR »

How do I obtain the direct control of French Ally Forces? Often during the Napoleonic Wars the French Allies had their own Division Commanders which in turn reported to French Corps Commanders.

At the bottom of the screen I can send allied units to Rally Locations. When they arrive at the rally location am I able to take control of the unit and merge them into French Corps? Or do they remain computer controlled?

Is there way to merge the Allied Units into French Corps without using the Rally Location feature?

Thanks. From your response it appears that we have no direct control of Allied Forces. If I understand you correctly...it's a shame because from 1803 - 1812 Allied forces played a large role in Napoleonic achievements on the battlefield.

There are two different issues here.
-- Control over allied nations is very primative, which reflects the historical level of cooperation between forces of major powers pretty well. Note the use of the 's' key during strategic movement to make a support move into an area, which allows you to wait for the ally to move in.
-- Control over allied countries (what we call protectorates in the game) is very detailed - you can add their divisions to your corps, your divisions to their corps, share leaders, etc etc - this is actually what you are talking about IMHO. The major restriction is just that once an allied division is in an allied corps/army, you can't remove it except via instructing the division to garrison a city.
