Pure Sim's Music

Post by KG Erwin »

The in-game music by Eric Endres is cool, but everyone should be aware that you can change the themes to anything you want to use.

I put a few alternate themes in my PureSim/audio folder, and all it takes is renaming your chosen mp3 to PS04TakeMeOut1.mp3 (after renaming the original, of course).

For example, I have Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band doing their own version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", live from Fenway Park in 2003, as well as Carly Simon's beautiful rendition from Ken Burns' Baseball series, and the legendary Harry Caray doing his typical Cub-oriented version. As a change of pace, I also have John Fogerty's classic "Centerfield".

I would LOVE to see this functionality expanded in a future version. Some sort of "Sound Situation Editor."

Winning or Tieing run in scoring position - "trumpet-charge.wav"
Final Out, Human Team Wins - "Cheer.wav" or "Fireworks.wav"
Final Out, Human Team Loses - "Boos.wav" (For Philadelphia)
etc...

People could create Sound Packs!

Am I missing something here? I have the gold editon and when I look in the audio folder there's nothing. Should it have something? If not, is there any free music or do I just download some from iTunes or some other place? And when will the music play, just at the beginning of the game? Thanks for your help.

Bill, there are several sound files that are supposed to be in the audio folder. Do you have the free version or the updated registered RC1?

I have the music in my audio file but I don't know when, where, and how it works.

Perhaps you have enable sounds unchecked in options?

I have the registered RC1. However, when I downloaded it, it got stuck at the fonts part of the installation (99% of the installation completed; I tried installing it twice and it froze at the same place). Is that why I don't have the audio files? If so, what can I do about it?

Also, when does the music play?

OK-- when you first start the game, you should hear the jazzed-up instrumental version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". When you play an individual game as the manager, before the first pitch you should hear "...and the home of the brave", sung by Mr. Eric Endres himself. The other music files have no triggers assigned to them yet.

Bill, you should probably download the game again, since you're not getting 100% of the install package.

Thanks, K G,

I did try downloading it again, and again it got to 99%. But this time, I got the audio files. I especially like hearing my team's scores each day as I sim a month at a time. Yet another reason to love PureSim.
