It is a DDG of some kind possibly Chineese judging by the red flag. The anti-aircraft batteries do not look like R2D2s so definitly not US.

It is passing a US base of some kind judging by the flag on the shore.

It is a chinese Harbin-class destroyer, probably the Qingdao in Everett naval station during the September 2000 goodwill tour.

I will agree as to some confusion about the port of call, but does Everette have Palm Trees?

Three ships Visited Hawaii then San Diego in March 1997, San Diego was on 21 March, 1997. No Everette mentioned.

Could be Hawaii.

I admit San Diego was a guess (IMHO a good one [;)] ), but I'm pretty sure about the ship. Sadly, I only managed to visit the USA once (San Francisco) and for only a week - sigh - so much to see, so little time. Your country is much to big for us little Europeans [:D]

Having been in the service back in the late 60's & early 70's, and doing what I did for my country in the Navy, that would be overseas on official business for the United states Government, (nice wording) I visited every Nato Base in Europe, in route to Southeast Asia, I miss those days and the beauty of all of Europe.

Come back When you can.

BTW: It is the Harbin.

Were not all like that, being half Irish & half Italian, I have family in both counties.

Ain't that a mix, whiskey or wine, what an inner conundrum[:D]

It got so bad I quit boozing about 25 years ago.[&:]

I know, I know... Just had a bad experience with the stereotypical "ugly American" a while back. Came into my museum all "ooh" this and "how quaint" that; I really had to grit my teeth to be nice to them, rather than kicking them to the curb.

It was a reflex reaction; honestly didn't expect to find any of them on this board.

Yes, we do have those who think that their blue bloods.[>:]

Next time just tell them to get F#$&ED & Hit the Bricks, they understand that. Having operated some prestigious Office Buildings and received people from all over the world. Diplomacy at times failed and when it did I loved it, as long as my Bosses backed me up.
