BoH arrives in the UK

Post by scotswahay »

Yipppeee, it has arrived, and it is indeed a thing of beauty, so in order to play it all I need now is to read the rules and get my hands on the vassal module, any news on the module - who is doing it? when will it be ready? who wants to play :)

ps Mark you can send my $10 any time you like

Got my order today in the UK, fantastic product, incredible service, & beautiful art work, if this was the first wargame I had come across, & I just looked at the quality of the contents it would prompt me to invest in it. Just can’t wait for more, and would buy them as soon as they went into pre-order.

Quick question I had one player reference sheet in the box [in fact as I ordered three copies for my fellow gamers I regularly play against, this comment applies to all three copies]. Yet the box states two player aid cards? Anyone had two play aids in their box?

A big thank you to Matrix and mark for a great game

Hi Guys

Yes that is a typo on the box we seemed to have missed. It should only say one Player - Aid card.

The pre-orders were shipped to the US and UK warehouses, we've got a request in to the US warehouse to get a status update on whether pre-order shipments have gone out.

Mine still shows the status as Backordered. [:(] Hopefully it will ship by tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity, did your order status info ever update? I'm just trying to figure out if there's a delay between the actual shipment and the database update. According to my order status, nothing's happened. I wish I'd done overnight shipping!

Yes my order info status was updated, I received an e-mail telling me that my card had been charged and the game was sent.
Then it has been really fast, the game was sent wednesday (the same day I received the mail) and I received it today. I could have had it yesterday but the I wasn't home when the delivery was done.

I received an e-mail 2 days ago stating the game was shipped, and today it's here! I guess "Royal 1st Class post" it's not only a label, that's real 1st class. UK-Italy 2 days, nice.

Hi Guys

Digital River has received the games in North America and games will start shipping today. I do not know if DR will update the online status when they ship or afterwards.

I received BoH friday and tried it twice, playing solo. Saturday I played "Coming Through" first, it's a nice scenario forcing the players to be fast, US troops won but it was really hard. the random reinforcements table is a great idea.
Sunday I played "Alamo". Good god this one is a blast ! US troops won but there too it was a close-run affair, no german tank survived but few US troops were still left on turn seven.

Components are great, sccenarios are really interesting, BoH is a really good game. Thank you !

Haven't played the game yet so can only comment on the contents so far.

LnL is the first board game I bought since 2000 I guess. I bought it because of the squad level action, the role SMC's can play and the event that occur. I'm really looking forward to playing this through VASSAL becauese it will be almost imposible to find life players. The only drawback is that my box was damaged during transport and now the board are slightly damaged as well.

I really like the counter art, it has come a long way since ASL, and them being such 'big' counters. On the other hand the boards do look great but the superimposed grid sticks out a bid to much for my taste.

Next week I hope to have some time to delve through the rules and try my first scenario solo. Any idea on what would be the best starter scenario in the pack?

Pirke,
I haven't received my copy yet but, there is a scenario on BoardGameGeek that looks like it would be a good intro scenario provided the rules are close to the Forgotten Heroes rules.

It is from Via Victus?

Yes, from Vae Victis. I guess Mark designed it before BoH. Because counters values are not the same. And the needed map is in Vae Victis too.

How much are they different? And ... Crabe if you have BoH, does it have a map that could be used for this scenario? Some adjustments are needed I'm sure (setup hexes and such...) but it looks like a pretty good intro scenario.

from memory, the us paratroopers were 3/4/4 instead of 2/5/4. It wa the principal change. And yes, you can use a city or village map wich is in BoH
