is this a bug? axis says no, allies say yes!

Gary Grigsby's World At War gives you the chance to really run a world war. History is yours to write and things may turn out differently. The Western Allies may be conquered by Germany, or Japan may defeat China. With you at the controls, leading the fates of nations and alliances. Take command in this dynamic turn-based game and test strategies that long-past generals and world leaders could only dream of. Now anything is possible in this new strategic offering from Matrix Games and 2 by 3 Games.

well its interesting to see this tactic fail, but I'll give this note to allied players and I'm curious to see if this will get "fixed" next patch.

it appears the trick to unlock the USA by bombing the japanese isn't perfect. it appears you may have to bomb specific regions, since in one of my current games the allies bombed southern urals (japanese occupied) and nothing happened. My only guess is that they have to be bombed in specific regions.

now that brings up the question if the 2by3 should patch this so that it "works correctly". (of course this is the lowest of the low in priority)

Did you use a CW rather than UK unit to do the bombing? If so its well known.

actually, it wasn't me since I'm the axis player, but I'll ask him. interesting that only UK bombers would work and not any WA unit.

I guess it wasn't "well known" enough, thanks! :)

It is quite odd indead.

I just reread my post about the bombing and noticed I only said it had to be a UK unit but not why. I reckon I should have, sorry.

Please do post when you know if that was infact the reason.

hmmm, I just looked and it appears that the CW can't even create strat bombers. perhaps it was a canadian bomber then? I'll ask him, because the symbol looks the same as a british to me on the map.

My bmb was in S Persia and bombed all four territories it could reach. I have now moved it to N Persia so we'll see if that makes a difference.

I don't recall if the bmb was built in England or Canada. I don't expect that would make any difference though.

If the CW goes to war with Japan, this does not trigger US entry (this was an oversight). Thus, any unit that starts in a CW area or is built in a CW production center will not bring the US into the war if it attacks Japan. This will be fixed in a patch.

Ok, but I'm still confused. First, when you say CW, Do you mean India and Victoria only, or does it also include Canada? Does it also include Sco & Eng?

What exactly does bring in the US? An English Unit but not a CW/Can unit?

In WaW terms:
UK = England / Scotland
CW = India, Australia
Canada = Canada

I am not certain if a Canadian unit will trigger the war.

apparently not a canadian unit, because he's been attacking with a heavy strat bomber and the CW can't create them.

Yes, Canada was also left off. Thanks for bringing that up and it'll get corrected as well.
