triples

Post by darrenhfx »

I have been trying to figure out the best setting for triples by playing with the xml #'s for awhile now all to no avail. I'm not happy with players getting 30+ triples/year, can someone suggest a good level to set the xml at?

Thanks

Hi Darren,
I've been doing some testing of the stats puresim generates for a fictional player league using the default XML, and believe it or not, triples are *by far* the most historically accurate of the individual stat categories. There is a thread floating around here with some powerpoint slides to that effect, but they are incomplete. If you wait a day or two I'll have the complete analysis posted on these boards; I have the data, I just need to settle in and put the rest of the slides together.

I think the problem has to do with how puresim handles the distribution of certain stat outputs. You can use the XML to adjust up or down the total number of triples, but you can't affect if you get to 100 triples by having 10 guys hit 10 or 2 guys hit 50. That seems fixed, and for certain stats it's not entirely accurate. Based on the slides from last week, I think Shaun has said he'll take a look into stuff like this after 2005 Gold Edition gets out the door.

Also, there was actually a bug a few versions back where over time, triples got out of hand. This was fixed in a patch. What version are you running?

If you are running 8.21 then what configuration are you running? Also are you using real players? If so what year?

Thanks.

I just finished the 162 game schedule in my 4 team fantasy season with 8.21 and the leader in triples had 10.
