Well guys, after watching my fighter pilots vanish -- as well as some land units sent by C-47 transport -- I did a Windows XP system restore back to V. 2.3. I just got fed up with having to repeatedly save my game whenever I came up short [:@].

Should this beta patch problem ever get resolved, I will try again after I make yet another system restore point on my machine.

Maybe the C-47s got shot down. It's not like stuff can't vanish in the Pacific, you know. Ask Amelia. [;)]

The C-47s went to Nadzab, not Howand Island. In fact, they didn't even cross over any water!
Seriously, if anyone has updated to 2.42B and has not had any problems with disapearing pilots and/or units, please tell me how you did it.
Thanks.

2.42beta is still a mess...much like 2.41 and 2.40 before it....

and I'm pretty positive fixing it is way down on Mike Wood's Priority List...

Version 2.30 isn't so bad!![:D]

To stop the vanishing LCU air transport bug.[;)]

Stop transporting the unit for a couple of turns.
The larger fragment will then become the parent unit.
Then continue to fly the rest of it in.

Admiral H: there are so many extra routines a player must perform in order to make the new patches work that I am now truely convinced it is better to stay at 2.3 until some major fix appears for 2-4 - 2.43B.
