I am hoping that Mark, alias Bravotwosix is reading this and will reply on this forum. He is one of the 3 Allied players, and we have not heard from him for close to two weeks. Currently we are playing 3x2 and we would much rather be 3x3. And no, he does not live anywhere that was hit by Katrina.

Much to our surprise Singapore has not fallen. There was a sync problem in the replay. Even two days later, the 9000 men in Singpaore hold out.

As you know recently the Japanese have been suffering very heavy losses amoung their merchant shipping. American air attacks off New Guinea, Allied air attacks flying from Soerbaja and Royal Navy action off Malaya have pushed the loss rate over 7 ships per day for several days. 7 ships is over 1% of the estimated total size of the Japanese merchant fleet. As the chart below shows, these losses are concentrated in the troop transport catagory:








In addition to ships known to have been sunk intelligence believes that at least 50 and maybe as many as 100 may be heavily damaged. This leaves the Japanese with between 20-40% of the troop transport capability that they had at the beginning of the war, 60 days ago.

Intelligence believes that the Japanese are becoming aware of the detrimental effects of these losses on thier war effort and that an adjustment in Japanese strategy may occur as their operations become curtailed by a lack of transport capability.

At the start of the war the Japanese launched invasions of the following areas in the following strength:

Burma: 50,000 over land
Malaya 70,000 by sea
Luzon 80,000 by sea
Mindano, Borneo, Celebes 40,000 by sea
Rabaul, Solomons, 30,000 by sea

At this time intelligence estimates that the largest invasion the Japanese are capable of launching is 40-50,000 men and that they can launch one invasion only.

Looking at the summary of Japanese shipping losses from US Intelligence combined with what we know about Japanese air and naval activity it seems clear that the strategy changes Intel. predicts are happening as we speak. My staff put together the map below that shows the drives the Japanese have abandoned, as well as those we think are still ongoing.





We believe the Japanese will continue thier focus on Timor, take the island and then come at Java from the SE from Timor, and from the NW out of Singapore. These operations are critical for Japan since the Japanese war machine needs the oil and resources of South Sumatra and Java to continue the war.


This change presents a great opportunity for the Allies.

In Malaya we will continue our withdrawl, primarily because the supply situation there is too difficult to repair with current resources. We have already removed 23,000 men with only 90 casualties and it should be possible to get the remaining 30,000 out before the Japanese can organize a strong response.

The troops from Malaya will go to Java and to India depending on the units in question. In Java they will bolster the defense being organized by the Dutch, in India they will free up fresh troops that are garrisoning the coast, those troops will organize to drive the Japs out of Burma.

The Dutch will contiue to be supported by Allied air power, supplies from India and by the Royal Navy. Every attempt will be made to destroy any Japanese invasion attempt with airpower and when favorable circumstances can be created, seapower as well.

The Americans and Australians will make every effort to strengthen Port Moresby and also develop strong bases at Thursday Island and Cooktown. Port Moresby is about to get more ground troops and supplies and has already been launching offensive air operations against Japanese targets in the area.

The US Navy and US forces that are building up in Noumea will raid the Solomons, and if conditions are favorable they will invade and retake Guadalcanal. Within a month 3 divisions, numerous support formations and over 200 aircraft will be in Noumea or surrounding bases along with 4 or 5 US CVs. The US will only invade if the Japanese are making a major effort against Java, in which case it is hoped the US attack will pull resources away from Japanese moves against the Dutch.

Timor will hold for as long as possible.

The North Coast of Australia will be re-inforced and the airpower available in the area will continue to increase. Within 10 days a very large British air support unit will arrive in Darwin, this and the recently arrived supply convoys should greatly strengthen the Allies in this area.

Not that it really matters, we already know their plans through our brilliant powers of deduction [:'(] but we don't want to give them any reason to think we cheat.
