Andrew Brown - CHS Chinese Unit Objectives?

Post by witpqs »

Andrew,

I took a good look through (I think) all the Chinese LCU's when I noticed that some objectives seemed off. What alerted me was some units set to Chungking when the HQ they were stacked with was set to a nearby city. In looking, I see a lot of Chinese LCU's set to Chungking even though they are nowhere near it. I am attaching an Excel file that I've compiled showing the errors. For reference I have shown HQ's with correct objectives when they were stacked with INF units with Chungking.

Oops, can't upload a .xls. Please PM me your email address and I will send it directly to you.

You should probably send the list to treespider as well - he is doing the Chinese revisions.

Been that way from the start. With all those little guerilla units running around, I'd say keep them prepped for Chungking. They're fully prepped and actually start to train up Exp immediately. If you're not going to send them to any particuliar location, they do not need to prepped for any anywhere.

I agree..No need to designate objectives till you have a real destination..If nothing else it makes an obvious "flag" on units with no mission.

A number of the units are stacked with HQ's that have the city in the next hex (friendly or enemy) as their objective, yet the combat LCU's themselves have Chungking as the objective. Gives the impression they were intended to have the same objective as the HQ unit.

In other cases the LCU's are way far away from Chungking. Some are in, but most are near Chinese held cities. I assume the nearest Chinese held city was intended as the unit objective, not Chungking.

In still some other cases the LCU's are far away from Chungking but right next to Japanese held cities. Actually the units are behind enemy lines or right at the front in contact with (next hex from) enemy bases. There's no mystery about plans if they start the scenario prepped for the enemy base next to them.

That's the way it looks to me, so I provided the info to the designers. I'll be happy with whatever they decide.

rockmedic109 - I thought that LCU's only train after getting 100% prepped for the base they are actually in at the time?

When I did the Mod I originally did not touch the objectives for the units at all and left them at a 0 value which evidently defaulted to Chungking for the LCU. In addition unbeknownst to me evidently a number of the HQ's were prepped for different bases such that when I relocated them they retained the old designation. The HQ problem was corrected which is why you see the HQ's prepped for the bases they are in.
