US Navy HSV SWIFT - 11,000 tons. HSV = High Speed Vessel

Possibly deployment in minewarfare role

How'd I do?

Hey Brady,

Seems the first news clip I saw on the Swift might not be correct about it's weight. I found something now that says more like 1000 tons. Not sure if that's right either but 11K tons seems a bit heavy for this type of vessel.

(Defense Weekly ran the same news story as I found the first go 'round, almost verbatim)

I did find the Swift might be used as a command and control ship in regards to anti-minewarfare, and it's most recent use was to shuttle relief to the Tsunami Victims.

Regards,

Rob

Try http://www.navy.mil

I'd set it up but like I said before I would screw it up.

Didn't see any HVS Swift

Look at "Status of the Fleet"... It's there, under the heading "Joint Task Force Katrina". USS Swift (HSV 2); it's a pretty distinctive profile.

As an aside, that's the USS Missouri in the background of Brady's picture.

Interestingly enough, the Swift was actually built in Australia.
