Wath is vid998-v50.zip ?

Is is quite big! What is it's utilization ?

There was a corrupted version of SPWAW 5.0 available, and it was this particular vid998 file that had the problem. So this file is for those who got the bad file and by downloading this one file they can fix their SPWAW install without dowloading the full game again.

So, if your SPWAW works, you don't need this file

Hi all! (first post here)

I guess I got the corrupted version, because my vid998.smk was bad. I was anxious to look at 5.0, so I copied vid998.smk from 4.4 and pasted into 5.0. Everything appears to be working just fine, but there may be issues I haven't discovered yet.

Should I download the new one, or will the old one work?

thanks for clearing that up!!..i dl the update last night (and this morning!)..and it installed ok,,except for vid998..

and so i can't seem to play the game(when i click on 'play waw' on the menu,i hear smg sounds but nothing happens!..
damn,another 5-8 hours of dling!!..oh well..

Zonker, it's the intro video so if you have gotten past it and into the game itself you should be all right.

Paul mentioned some sort of deal with SSI (one version of this video didn't include something it should)..that's why these problems..afaik..dunno My upgrade worked okay so I've somewhat skipped posts concerning this..

I put my old VID998.SMK into Ver 5 and it worked fine. But when I installed the 5.01 patch, it no longer worked. So I had to go get the "new" VID998.SMK and put it in the \SND\STREAM folder. Now 5.01 works fine.

Because of some agreements with SSI version 5.01 cannot use any 4.x videos. So if you are updating to version 5.01 you need new vid998.smk. It's available at ftp.matrixgames.com or if busy at my site http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~cirrus/vid998.zip

I copied the vid file in case I got a bad copy with the download, I did and the copied version will not work with 5.01. I'll download the new one. Could some one please glance at their stream folder and tell me if that file is the only one that should be in there. Thanks much.

Stream folder has totally 131 901 326 bytes in 65 files
