My HQ unit are so weak...and fragile...

Post by Darksky »

I have a bunch of HQ unit in some hexes to support the defense effort of my infantry.
These hexes are heavily ground bombarded almost each turn. I see that the unit suffer heavily the bombardament are HQ unit. I have some HQ unit at 5% of effective, due to heavy bombardment losses [8|].
What can i do to mantain support to infantry and avoid HQ and support squad massacre ?

HQ units preferentially take damage. Actually, whatever unit is on TOP of the stack preferentially takes damage. Only solution i know of is to try to rotate units out of the hex. Of course, this is easier said than done...

Hi,

Like rtrapasso said, rotate your HQ units. Try to send more battle harden units to this hex and engage the enemy and fight it out, if you want the hex. Select aggressive land commanders for all your HQ and infantry, artillery, combat engineer units to sludge it out. Bomb your enemies from the sky and sea. It is a matter of attrition - see who has the stamina to outlast the other. Good luck![;)]

Actually they are not hexes where i want attack. They are hexes where the best choice is the defense, because they are well fortified and i'm short on supply ( Ok, you guessed right, it's china and i'm the allied player [:D] )

Yeah - i sort of guessed that. Rotation is your best bet, i think.

It's because the WitP model believes that support personel are too stupid to take cover.

One of the mods once made a comment that it was because the support personnale were trying to protect the combat troops!!. [X(] I had visions of clerk/typists running outside during a bombardment, trying to play "catch the incoming 105".

Combat troops are probably better at digging deep holes while the support troops think that they are protected by the combat troops.
