Survivors of crash to desktop

I would like to hear from anyone who upgraded SPWAW 4.5 to 5.01 or even the complete 5.01 and had the problem where it crashed to the desktop. When I play solitaire and its the computers turn it may play on for a minute then crash to the desktop. I have posted this before and tried just about everything that was suggested. I have many " high end" sims and have no problems at all. I would like to hear how you guys solved the problem.

My System:
AMD anthlon 700 mhz
GeForce video ( creative labs)
256 meg ram
All the latest drivers for ALL my cards and
chip set including directX 8.0.

This problem may go away when I get the mega-cd but for now its no SPWAW for me . :(
