Saving Preferences

Post by The German »

Hi all,

Since upgrading from 4.5 to v5.01, my preferences' settings are not being saved upon exiting the game. Each time I load SPWaW I must go thru them manually - having to turn op-fire off etc... It is a pain, but no biggie. Has anyone else had this problem?

Try deleting the steel.prf file in the SAVE folder, also note that whenever you load a secure pbem game, the settings override what you had and must be reset.

tanx Paul, that seems to have fixed it.

I haven't actually delted the .prf file - I just moved it to a temp location. What exactly does that file do? Am I likely to need it in the future?

It gets recreated by the game with default settings if it is not there. IF you want to save a set of pref setting you can keep a back up with setting you like and overwrite it, this is a good thing to do after pbem games, as they reset what you you had to what is in the pbem file.
