Air Defense in original version

Hi all,
I just played the original Grisby version, played the Germans in 1943 and got lessons by the USAAF. They destroyed my industry. My question now:
Having played the Matrix version I could stopp the air offensive by using three strong Jagdgeschwader (FW 190, Me 110/410). in the old version this seemed to be impossible. What did you do for defending the Reich?

agors might have been playing using his 12 years old diskettes but SSI did put a CD for sale (including other titles) a couple of years after (1996 ?). The game is still available at the Home of the Underdogs at this address

What are your problems ?
Not enough experienced Fw 190 units or not enough Fw 190 avaioable ?
All defending fighters in West front HQ or spreaded out to different HQ in the Reich ?

Using a fully updated standard WIR or a modified version (non-Matrixgames mod) ?
