Ahhh the generals, they are numerous but not good for much!

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Ahhh the generals, they are numerous but not good for much!

In my 1805 scenario as France, I had just finished off Austria, when the brits decide to land a large army (for the brits) of about 70K troops in the north of France, accompanied by 2 generals. I bring the Grande Armée over and kick their butts, of course, and take everyone as POWS. Everyone that is...exept the generals. Why?? I now have 2 british generals sitting in France doing absolutely nothing, and who apparently do not desire to return home to england, just are content sitting their oogling good french girls? What do I do with those pesky guys?

'Oogling' good French girls? [X(] The mind boggles as to what that could mean - maybe leering at their pictures on an internet search engine...?[;)]

Whenever the Brits do the same when I play as France, after a few months I usually get a message saying 'Beresford has been arrested in Ile de France' or somesuch. I then just shove them in prison in a garrison somewhere until a patch comes out giving us ransoming options.

British commanders do sometimes get stuck on the continent when their army is captured. There is a small chance they will be captured each turn they are in enemy territory.

Yeah, I've had ex-captive, wandering Frenchy generals in the Near East after peace was made.

Ha! I was wondering at the wording of the topic. It's an ancient quote. I only recognized it because I've been playing a lot of RTW these past few weeks (as I await the patch for this game). Guess I'm going to have to play it some more so I can remember who said it (I want to say Lesander but don't think so). :)

I had a saved file, where France unloaded (only) 4 Marshals to my England. Any idea about Nappy's motive? *(~,~)*

the guy who said the quote above was the satyrist Aristophanes. [;)] I also got it from RTW...
