Is this Peiper

The action figure doesn't look anything like him - got a Bulge picture of him, he looks like a skinny, soft-featured and rather young kid. (that, or I'm getting older ....)

In the second picture - which is accurate - you can see him trying to look tough - which he was - but he sure didn't *look* the part.

Looks like he was fresh out of the Hitler Youth... Anybody know how old Peiper was by the time of the Ardennes offensive?

Schwimmwagen, it is[:)]

It is, Kar-98.

.................

I Honestly thought it was Peiper, Learn something new every day, thanks Marc[:)]

Anyway I posted this because I always found it to be an interesting pic, though obviously staged, and I too have always thought the Schwimmwagen was prety cool.

Interestingly I leared some time ago Peiper, aparently had nothing to do with the shooting of the US prisioners, this aparently was why he was not excuited and his sentince was comuted. Ambrose in one of his books ( I beleave Citizen Solider) mentioned that after much delebration the war crimes triburnal decided that they would not go after Soliders for shoting prisioners, the reasion being ostensiably that all sides did it, he also described several instances of US soliders toturaturing and shooting German prisioners.

Can anyone Name the Famious US WW2 personality who was responsable for the killing of thousnads of helpless enemy troops?

My point hear is that Non of this is nice stuff and no one side had a monopoly on this sort of thing.

This is not what name this is suposed to be about btw, me and my soap box, so please fogive the interuption.

Perhaps, General Mark Clark? By the way, I do not disagree with you on the killing of priosners. The most interresting part of the Malmedy massacre is that 2nd SS Panzer Korps completely denies it as a whole. They claim that it was allied propaganda, and that it has been proven beyond resonable doubt that it never happened. I don't know its kind of hard to believe that coming from any of the LH, Totenkopf, or Das Reich members.

Brady

I have read that Peiper was most likely one of the only gruppe leaders who did not follow Hitlers order not to take prisoners.

He was already known for ordering American prioners sent back behind German lines during the BOB.

It's just that damn driver looks so creepy.

Check out that wartoys.biz, it's unusual to say the least. I found it doing a search for info on Peiper.

Should have seen my face

Thier are several toy companys who make action figures of WW2 subjects, though I have never sean one who makes them of the top NAZI's, almost a gag gift realy like the inflatable sheap a bunch of my buddies got to give a buddy of ours who lost his GF a few years back, though certainly more sinister.

Dragon Model's though:

http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/catalog/figure_pics/

Makes some prety cool stuff, they come out with different ones every so often and do limited runs so their colectable, I have neverly been into colecting Dolls per say, but I must admit I picked up a couple simply because their so freaking cool, they are ostinsably being kept for their long term value and live brand new in thier boxes. I havnet bought any in a couple years but I have like 5 or 6 I think, a Soviet Woman Sniper, one Falshimager, Hartman, and a couple troopers. I did buy a few for my GF's son a few years ago as well.

Check out the new "Dragon in Dreams" series.

You may want to check Sideshowtoys too. I have a few of their figures, mainly the WW1 ones.
