dropping the GHQ persona....regrettably, our game began before the advent of player defined upgrades so the above statement is more wishful thinking than anything else. I'm essentially stuck with Nates for a long time to come and then after that Oscar II's which under this mod version will be less than useful. ah well....nice to see the Tojo preforming well...in the limited airgroups i'll have for it.

Despite the successful defense of PM by my Zero/Oscar forces, the advent of the Liberators as Kaiser already mentioned bodes ill for me. Without any real AA defenses, only massed fighters have any chance of blunting the onslaught of heavy bombers that will be assaulting me on a more regular basis i expect. Not sure yet what i'm going to do. So far as, as is very obvious in the last couple of month's, i've been playing a conservative game, not overextending my forces.

well, personally i never played a game as allies with player defined upgrade, so Allies are able to convert all B17 to liberators? and other bombers as well? if yes, then you shouldn't regret too much [:D]

Nates and Oscars are just crap. In my late '43 PBEM as Japan, they just drop like flies always. but they are good to take the hits instead of the zeroes or tojos.

With Liberators, given the reduced rate for B-17 which basically prevents me to use them without escorts (escorts that i won't have till lightnings comes), i am finally able to do (on a smaller scale) what in stock game Allies can do since day 10: bombing raids to weaken the Japanese airforce.

Japan in this game didn't overextend. and his KB is still top notch. Maybe i am too careful as Allied player. i guess this doesn't make me the most fun player to fight as Allies (i can guarantee you that as Japan i am overaggressive though).

It looks like the Tojo is crap too....at least against the AVG.....i was rather shocked at the complete one-sideness of the fights. Its like some kind of defensive trigger gets flipped (early warning? high exp?) and the CAP just rips away at the escorts without any real reply.

I really hate results like this.....not that i got my ass kicked, but that such large losses can be caused. 33 planes in one day is rather extreme and highlights the power of the higher gun value'd aircraft...especially in situations where a defensive bonus appears to get triggered.

well, you should see the loss report for my PBEM with WiTP dude (he's trying hard with all his airpower to beat me in China).

I think in 1 battle my 80 exp 72 rested P-40E shot down like 150 planes over Chunking. [8D]

I think there is definetely a defensive bonus and well...WiTP model surely isn't close to reality regarding air losses in crowded air battles.

150?

well i suppose that makes me feel better.......30ish planes in one day with a large air battle is much better than that. Too bad my pilots went back for more on day 2 and got hit with what appeared to be the same defensive bonus. I ran some tests Ki-44 vs P40E using the AVG just to make sure there wasn't some kind of built in bonus for their group but was unable to duplicate the one sided slaughter seen yesterday. Even put radar on the base for early warning. odd.

well, my group is 75 exp, morale at 85 and totally rested.

i noticed that when your pilots are tired, they perform very bad.

You might be right about that. My fatigue was about 11-14%. Didn't seem bad to me. Average exp was only 60. I would have thought at least that they'd put up a decent fight even in losing.

Not much going on

Post by kaiser73 »

We are still in the bore times (mid '42- end '42).

Allies are preparing but i lack escorts to use my b17.

Japan is still playing with his KB in austrlian waters. I lost some other transports in one of these raids while my 200 LB (b17, liberators, beaufort) and TB refused to take off to attack the CV (and i had 30 fighters for escort pourpoes)....bah, misteries of this game. [:D]

Update - April '43

Post by kaiser73 »

Game isn't dead. Just not much to report.

We are now in Spring '43.

Situation:
Japan still holds all he conquered. Allies preparing.
No CV engagements so far. a Boring game...i am a boring Allied player after all.

When action gets interesting, i'll restart posting AAR (if Nik wants too).

I don't mind. As Kaiser said, stopped posting the AAR primarily due to inaction (yes....you are a boring allied player.....[:'(] I'm so bored i started an offensive in China even though it's doomed to fail) Send me some more AK's and TK's to sink [:D]

Also stopped posting updates because the version being used is obsolete.

I know i am boring allied player. [;)]
Fact is the 2 times i tried an early offensive in mid/42 i had always lot of problems, and this in stock scenario.
This scenario is more realistic and you have tons of pilots and better planes (i mean jap vs Allies planes perform better in this mod rather than in stock scenario). and you also a betatester as well, so wonna be cautious [:D]
So i figured out better to play safe for time, expecially given the fact you sunk shitload of transports!

But be patient, time is approaching for you not to be bored [;)]
