MegaCampaign ontop of Download version?

Post by sinner »

Hi,

Somehow, the MegaCampaign CD is giving me grief. It fails to extract the file "VID012.SMK". Just like the old problem with the VID098.SMK.

Then, when trying to resolve a turn, it just hangs.

Then, I had this idea:

How can I install the MegaCampaign ontop of my downloaded SPWaW5.01?

On the odwnloaded version, there's no trouble with the VID012.SMK file at all.

Thanks in advance.

You have to install the MC to its own directory - the vid 12 file is not used by the MC and is in the 5.2 patch.

OK about the vid12.

But the MC... should I install it "ontop" of the downloaded version?

Or should I install MC from scratch and then copy to .../spwaw/SAVE/ the saved files from the D/L version?

Thanks for answering.

You can read my step by step procedures in this thread http://www.matrixgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=15&t=000234 to keep me from retyping it again. During the upgrade don't alter the path of the upgrade installation in any manner, this poses problems for many. If you have any problems with the upgrade version # not appearing correctly ensure that the upgrade didn't create and install the upgrade into a sub SPWAW dir within the main SPWAW. If they still don't appear correct delete the mech.exe file within the main SPWAW dir and the steel.prf from within the /save dir and reinstall the upgrade. After all upgrades are completed and versions appear to be correct delete the steel.prf file within the /save dir and restart the game, don't worry that file automatically gets rebuilt from scratch. Good luck and Happy gaming
