cannot download the patch

Post by mkhurly »

I just purchased War in the pacific and i cannot download the v1.30 patch. It says I have a wrong serial number. I find this curious because this was the same serial number I used to register my game. any help would be welcomed. thanks.

Two things are possible: there was a registration patch early on that fixed a serial number problem some of us had - you might try that. Otherwise, it's probable that you just mistyped the serial number... good luck.

Have you tried the "serial number retreiver" program? IIRC, it was provided for problems like this...

EDIT: In case you are wondering, it is in the WITP "stickied" thread above the main WITP forum.

Yeah, at first I thought I put in the wrong serial number. But that wasn't it. I even tried the serial number retreiver program. Same number. Only thing I can think of is that I just purchased this game not but 3 days ago. Would their be a different v1.3 patch for me to download? or should I try to download the 1.5 or 1.6 patches. Thanks guys... keep thinking...
very helpful [:)]

of course i should be learning the manual. all 200+ pages of it. [:)]

Hmm, can you get the game to run without patching anything? If so, check the version number (found on the opening menu screen). I'm not sure what version number Matrix ships nowadays, but it MIGHT be higher than 1.30. It's a longshot but still

You should have been directed to digital river's website immediately following your order confirmation three days ago. You might want to log into the members area and try to d/l the game there.
At Matrix Games, we make great efforts to provide you with great support and a great community. The Members Area serves both purposes.
First of all, it serves as a place for you to keep track of your Matrix Games products. If you lose a serial number or misplace a patch, you can come back here and quickly see what you have registered with us and if it has any new updates. By registering your Matrix Games products with us, you receive direct access to updates as well as support services such as our Help Desk (coming soon). For our latest products, we have gone to a serial number registration system. This removes the need for burdensome copy protection schemes, but requires that you register with us just once during the life of the game to receive the official updates.

Second, you will receive special links to The Gamers Net's Games Depot, Opponents Registry and Tournament Ladder system. The Games Depot allows you to quickly find scenarios, mods and other game enhancements for your Matrix Games products. The Opponents Registry helps you find people to practice against and the Tournament Ladder system lets you participate in ranked, measured play against other experienced gamers for supported products. By linking all these resources to one place, we hope to improve your experience as a gamer and a Matrix Games customer.

Privacy Info: Please note, while we ask for some personal information such as your name and e-mail, we do not give this information out for any reason at any time. This is strictly for us to keep your account straight from others, to support any problems with your account and for future added features we plan to include in the Members Area. At all times, your information will be completely private, never shared with any third party. It's your record and our record of your game ownership, like sending in a registration card. So what are you waiting for? Sign up with Matrix Games today!

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

OK - did you buy it by download? disk? Do you have an earlier version installed on the computer already?

EDITED:

IIRC (someone jump in and correct me if i am wrong) the only CUMULATIVE patch is ver 1.30. That means you have to start with that version (download the COMPREHENSIVE patch version), then download the 1.40 patch, etc.

If you are starting with something earlier than that, you have to upgrade to 1.30 first, then start patching sequentially.

RE_EDIT: Sorry, i just got confused helping another person on the support part of forum, and got my questions crossed.[8|]

If you just downloaded, you should have the latest version minus the current beta patch.
