I think if you moved NY & Long Island on hex closer to Boston it would better position these in relation to each other...
then you could squeeze in the missing Philadelphia - port size 10 at the least..

That's a good idea. To be honest I wasn't even sure Philadelphia was a port. Like I said, my geographical ignorance is great, even about Britain :)

You'll probably end up having to throw in Charleston, SC as well - one of the more major ports in the south - but I honestly have no idea what her WitP stats would be. The US East coast is just covered in ports; then again, Britain is probably going to be entirely composed of Size 10s .. [:-]

I did wonder about Charleston but it looks really small on the map (as a city that is). Was it a big port in WWI timeframe?

For game terms 10 for port seems reasonable for those 4. Not sure on air though.

Well airfield size in this area is a lot less important since it is unlikely that the Germans will be invading ...

Having said that, most places will be SPS 9 but not all will be built up to that point at the start (whenever that is).

BTW, although the map will cover all of South American and Africa I am not going to go into the same level of detail there. It's only places that will be important in game terms that I am concerned with.

There will be ports in the Southern Hemisphere though, just not all of them. That brings up the question of how to deal with neutral countries of course, which I have not really thought about.

As I mentioned, there are difficulties ...

A quick look at a map made me remember Newport Rhode Island - one hex south of Boston on your map.
A big port - but more importantly l think there is an important Navy base there that is the homeport for the East Coast Submarine Command.
Someone with better recall will have to fill in the details...

Cruft some sort of special award should be either awarded to you, or called by your name (and awarded to others [:D]). This is epic task you're undertaking...

Actually, now that I think about it I beleive its New London Connecticutt that is the home base for the East Coast Sub Command, though Newport RI is still another large important port.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I know only too well how vast this undertaking is. ETA for something playable is about Christmas time ...

I am noting all port suggestions of course. While you're at it Canada is a mystery too. Apart from Halifax and St. John I have no idea. The St. Lawrence Seaway and whatever Great Lake it connects to are on the map, if that's important.

Good stuff. The map stops at the western edge of Florida so some of those places are not there though. I'll have a good look later.

Looks like the whole coastline is going to be populated at this rate ...

Eastern Front

I have decided that the scenario I am planning will not include the Eastern Front.

Why?

1) Not enough slots.
2) Playing the greatest land war in history at 60 miles per hex does not do it justice.

There will be nothing stopping anyone else making such a scenario on the map, but I will not.

What I will do in my "Western Front" scenario is to try and include some abstractions that account for the existence of the Eastern Front. I have worked out something for Lend-Lease Arctic Convoys already.

All that is a way off though. There are approximately 15,000 remaining hexes to be painted in first :) My admiration for AB goes up all the time ...

Is it only me
I think that "Project Wolf" and Atlantic Mod if putted together will be a killer.
By putting together I mean artwork of project wolf and Atlantic Mod's map.

Well indeed :) 'Tis a long way off but I have asked Cobra if I can use his art when the time comes.

East Coast vs. 0.2

Post by Captain Cruft »

Here is the new revised East Coast. It's not brilliant but like I said space is limited ...

I have not added all possible ports at this time. Ten is quite enough to be going on with. The main affect I want to achieve is that players have to take transports from multiple places and then form them up into convoys at Halifax (or wherever).

One thing I noticed. Although there are no LCUs or airgroups present ALL the bases have a "supplies required" of 30,000. That will be one of those hard-wired thingies I expect ;)

Here is the same area with the terrain showing.

I am going to leave this area for now and get back to filling in the map. South America is just begging to be complete :)

That, obviously, represents the biggest problem. I've seen first-hand the difficulties in getting the AI to behave in WPO.

I hope this doesn't mean there are big time problems with the AI in WPO. Last I heard, Tankerace said the AI in WPO was much improved?
