Agreed; as long as you can escort them properly, and find a weak spot in his coast defences, there's nothing like an amphibious flanking move.

Only problem I can think of for a naval invasion is that I would need to dedicate IJN to this to protect the fleet. I need to use KB and BB's for the South Pacific.

Hmm I hate Burma. Imphal/Kohima/Ledo and Akyab are pointless bases as you say but if left in Allied hands they will pummel Rangoon/Mandalay from the air by mid-end of 42.

Well, it's a tradeoff. If you want to go REALLY sneaky, send AP's north with NO troops in them. He'll see them, and if you're lucky, will deploy reserves to counter a landing. Then you attack on the mainland. To further the deception, set some units to plan for one of the ports in his hinterland; his SIGINT will pick it up, most likely, but he might not get wise to the fact that none of them have actually been loaded.

Hi all,

As promised here is a picture of my current production:

I restrained myself from expanding a lot at start due to the fact it is very easy to over expand and dry Japan clean of supply! Now i'm upto April 42 and have captured most of the large resource/Oil production centres in the SRA I decided it was time to look at production again.

The only things I changed at start was:

Doubled Emily production to 16 a month.
Changed the wasted engine facilities to Mitsubishi.
Increased the 2 x '0' armaments production facilities to 16.
Converted a couple of the merchant production facilities to Naval production.
THINK I may have increased the Val production of 1 facility.
THINK I increased the H6K transport production a little.

I now have PLENTY of oil and resource in Japan.

Come the 3rd quarter of 42 I will have Tonies and Tojo's in production which will replace all IJA fighter units.

Other than that I don't plan on expanding a lot since i've converted all Claude and Nate squadrons.

What do you all think?

Should I convert any of the currently producing planes?
Should I increase any of the current production?

I see it as a balance. I don't want to have too much stuff since it will be a waste of HI.

Thoughts gentlemen?

Steven

I'm having PC problems at the mo. I've brought my PC into a techy at
work for him to have a look. Will hopefully be up and running again in
a few days.

To those reading this AAR i'm sorry for the delay this will cause.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the the comment.

I have learnt a lot in these past 4 months. There are things I would do different for sure.

Now i'm upto mid-April I feel I need to push harder now for the next few months to maximise the 'freedom I have'. As I say I plan to move into the South Pacific but am unsure now as to how I will proceed in Burma.

I'm happy i've bagged 3 x US CV's. This is good since it means he only have 2 left now with Wasp arriving within 3 months.

I'm happy with how I played out the Wake Operation. I bagged a fair bit of enemy stuff for the loss of 20ish Auxilaries. All being well the damaged Zuiho, Takao and Sendai wiull all make it (all around 50ish FLT now). If they all make it i'm very happy.

Don't push TOO hard, mate. There's such a thing as being overextended.

I know bud. I plan to get to PM and Noumea and that will be it for the South Pacific. If knowing Werner as I think I do he will attempt to defend or intervene in these invasions and thats good. He will lose more shipping, aircraft and LCU's. KB is srtill relatively intact.

They SHOULD make it home Faber. Should [;)]

Until they get beneath 30% FLT I am not going to count my chickens. A few more AP/AK/TK's have sunk since than I expected but in the grand scheme of things still a big success.

Hi Steven,

Just finished reading your 8 pages AARs from beginning to end today compared to just the last 2 pages I read yesterday. Excellent results you got despite some down like the 2 missing IDs[:@]. Which reminds me, I had better upgrade to v1.602.

Your performance at Wake was superb! When I read that part about you detecting 37,000 Allied troops before landing, I told myself "Abort, abort - enemy too strong![X(]". But you persisted and won!![:D][&o][:D][&o]. Brilliant, simply magnaficient!. Now you have got 4 to 1 AV, that is some achievement! I salute you Field Marshal Steven Yamamoto![:D]

13th April 1942

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

I'm back up and running [:)]

Patrick - Thanks for the comments. Yes the 2 lost divisions probably set me back by about 2-3 weeks but all is ok now. I don't think i'm upto the level of PzB or Laurent but i'm doing ok. Still have a 4:1 ratio in points but by the end of 42 the Allies may well be able to get better than 4:1 results. Need to keep pushing.

The 13th April saw more action across the globe. A further sweep was ordered for the Toko Daitai to clear the skies over PM. For some reason Werner persists in basing Wirraway's there! He lost 14 today but he shot down a Zero! How dare he [X(]

If that is all he keeps at PM and he hasn't reinforced it I expect to take the place fairly easily. Over the next 3-4 weeks more forces will be landed at Lae to expand the airfield in preparation for the Southern Drive. It will be called 'Case Blue' in reference to our Axis comrades [;)]

------------------------

In Burma I decided to put in a surprise raid against the Chinese city of Yunan, from Mandalay. It was an ill fated raid. The escorting Oscar's became lost in heavy weather and 30 Sallies and Lillies arrived over Yunan un-escorted! 20 P40's on CAP tore into my formations and I lost 17 bombers [:-]

-------------------------

Here's the situation at Wake'd port. Going well with the capital ships. Keep going men!

14th April 1942

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi all,

A good day for the Empire in Java!

Madioen falls and the Dutch defenders are in chaos. All units encountered so far have been far below the standard of the IJA soldier. Recon shows 5 more formations in Soerabaja, the final; main goal of the marching IJA.

------------------------

The rest of the day was an admin day for me. Several new Daitai have been released for use in the War! Excellent, excellent. Thankyou my Emperor.

I plan to move a Nell/Betty Daitai + Zero Daitai to the outskirts of my perimeter to deter any Allied advance whilst I move into the South Pacific.

As such Wake received a Zero and Betty Daitai today.

Kwajalein already has a Betty and Zero Daitai and Chutai.

Northern Japan will keep it's 3 x Zero and Nell Daitai's in case Werner moves up there.

Once Java is taken I will have the following in the SRA:

Nell - 3 Daitai, 2 Chutai
Betty - 2 Daitai, 1 Chutai
Zero - 3 Daitai, 1 Chutai
Lilly - 4 Daitai
Sally - 2 Daitai
Helen - 2 Daitai
Oscar - 2 Daitai

I will keep probably 1/2 this force around the SRA for garrison duties. A key component will be kept in Singapore and Kendari. I will probably disperse the Lilly Daitai's around the SRA for ASW duties.

The rest of the units will move to Truk for use in the South Pacific.

----------------------

Wake - excellent. All capital ships are into the 30's FLT now [:)]

-----------------------

Below - The situation at Madioen yesterday.

Hi Steven,

Your situation is looking good.[:)] I notice your have Sally, Lily and Helen as bombers. I am thinking of economies of scale and just choose one - do you think it is wise to do that?[&:]

I love to see you wrapping DEI soon and proceeding to the next theatre![:D][;)]

Cheers!

Hi Patrick,

My own choice is to use Sally's and Helen's together. There isn't a lot to choose between them IMO.

HOWEVER, since I have had quite a few Lilly's from game start (and have gained even more from conversion to Sally's and Helen's) I plan to use them up and then once the pool is depleted change them to Sally's/Helen's. I like using Lilly's for ASW and will use them in the SRA for that purpose when it's fully conquered.

Also don't forget that you can downgrade Sonia's to Mary's and then upgrade them to Lilly's etc.

Actually you have reminded Patrick. Now that I have enough resource and oil back in Japan I am going to go through my production and make a few more tweaks.
