Why does Combat Net not connect?

Post by Reiryc »

Ive noticed a few people commenting on not being able to connect to combat net.

I also am unable to connect.

Is something wrong with battlenet or is it us?

I have the latest version, 3.2, using win98me, p3 500, 192meg ram, isdn connection.

Any ideas?

Try it again - I'm on right now and it seems to be working.

Hmm....

Well just tried again and its stuck that the connecting stage.

Odd thing is, about 5-6 months ago I was able to connect without probs.

No changes in hardware in this time, only the upgrade to version 3.2.

What version of combat net are you using that you were able to connect?

Ok, now I'm having problems. It worked yesterday. But since I got home from work today, no luck, the infinite connecting to server box. Yesterday was the first time I ever used it, was looking to get into some online gaming so I figured I'd give it a try.

Its odd....

I used to be able to get on any time I wanted when it first came out....I took a break from spwaw and since coming back and updating to version 3.2....it's been a no go....

CombatNet still doesn't connect for me after more then a week. I get that connecting screen but it won't finish.

I'm confused.

The programmer is working on why the thing seems to "decay" and progressively not let folks connect.

Cannot connect to CombatNet..

Post by Duke of Earl »

Bonjour everyone,

Small problem today... I installed CombatNet 3.2 from my LGA CD... no problems with the install...

But, I have tried to connect to CombatNet many times today to set up an account... but all I get is a dead wire... no response from the server at all to let me set up an account...

I understand that Matrix intends to use CombatNet for online play of all its games... is there something that I am doing wrong?... or has the CombatNet server been shut down?

P.S. I tried this troubleshoot procedure posted by David Heath:

Hi Guys
We have tracked down the problem with Combat Net. The problem is a setting in the ini file. Below is what you need to change. Its Very simple and anyone can do it.

Using notepad go to your windows directory and open the file "gs.ini" and edit the following lines in your gs.ini file. Please note you may only need to change one line is some cases or both. You will find these two lines near the bottom of the gs.ini.

[AutoConnect]
DefaultIP="www.militarygameronline.com"
DefaultHTTPPort="8080"

Please let me know if it fixes your problem or doesn't
It did not work for me... I still get the perpetual timeout on the connection dialogue box...

Cordialement, Duke of Earl
