EIA release

Post by RooseBolton »

Does anyone have any idea if or when this game will completed? I'm sorry to say my experiences playing EIA the boardgame were far more enjoyable than COG online. I just think that EIA is a much better design, and would love see it on the computer.

It would be nice, really, really sweet, if EiA could be released to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Trafalgar (Oct. 21, this year) . . . or, failing that, with Austerlitz a couple months later...

Here's to hoping... Can you make it a reality, Marshall?[:)]

I agree!
EiA was pretty close to perfect concerning the rules. And, in addition to this, the diplomacy was great!

From my point of view:
Simply transfer the game to the PC (up to 7 Players). There are no needs for changes in rules!! The rules are great!
I'm pretty much into strategy games (PC & board). And most of the games got 5-6 points on a scale from 1 to 10 points.
EiA was plainly a 15 on the same scale!

People do your very best to get this game to my PC. Boy, I'd buy a dozen of them if I would get it this year!!

Those of you that have played COG, why not try to get some people together for online gaming? Except for more details, I don't see much difference between the two.

Obviously EIA is some time in coming, so make do with what we have now. Wot's the difference between a chit choice and setting up a battle line and clicking the "done" button?

Yeah, COG is just a very detailed version of EiA!
BUT:
Exactly that's the point! I really loved playing EiA because there is very little 'micro-management'. You don't have to care about all that creepy small stuff!
You can concentrate on tactics, strategy and diplomacy! That's EiA! If I want to bother about my tiny provinces I play 'EU II'.

That's the annoying part in most of these games! Not enough focus on diplomacy! To much small stuff!

On the other side of things, there are players complaining how EiA relies too much on Luck of the diplomacy.

Nelson stood on deck and observed as the last of the Spanish fleets sank below the waves…

Then those players are not 'real' players of this era. In my views this age was of the innumerable coalitions, brave generals and marshals who often died on the battlefield, and the true golden era of decisive battles and of diplomatic maneuvers. But definitely was not the age of economics micromanagement, or juggling with numbers.

Luck of Diplomacy..... isn't that an oxymoron?

Wow, you know some kind of words....
But after reviewing my dictionary - I agree!

That's the advantage of EiA - you can achieve almost everything with the right diplomacy!

Obi-Wan Kenobi said there is no such thing as luck. Surely you aren't going to contradict Obi-Wan?

I agree. The reason I enjoy this game sooooooo much is that you win not by military victory but total victory points, and a lot of those points come from diplomatic action. After all, in the real world it is the dipolmatic acts (or lack there of) before and after military action that directs history.

I agree, there were many campaigns which were lost or won way before the first shots were fired, thanks to dilplomacy.
