Not so sure, the spit could have just made a pass on the bomber over the english channel, and the ever perceptive front gunner (or pilot or bombardier.. whoever was in position) snapped the pic.

If he'd made a pass over that Heinkel, the crew would have been otherwise busy. Y'know, admiring the view through the new holes in fuselage, trying to keep themselves from leaking too much of the red stuff, putting on their parachutes...
