Diresct Draw errors are caused by the making Direct Draw cals that the cuurent version of Direct draw you have, or your video card drive can;t understand. I would reinistall DirectX (v7 or higher) and your video card driver.

What's you system config? It has to be something particular to your machine. I assume your drivers are up to date, but with the size of hard drives these days, file corruption is always a possibility. I'd reinstall your video drivers, then the game.

For your TNT2 card I recommend you to get the latest Detonator driver pack from NVIDIA

www.nvidia.com

The Detonator drivers solved my direct draw errors that I had with Close Combat when I upgraded to W2k.

Hope this helps

I doubt the file got corrupted, or you would get errors installing, but its possible. How long has it been since you installed windows. If you use your PC several hours a day, after 4-6 months I've found Windows 9x gets corrupted and needs to be reloaded. Are you getting other "blue screen of death" errors? I've found taking the hard drive down to reformat and reinstall everything makes a world of difference.

Some gamers have beaten the Direct Draw bug by uninstalling SPWAW completlely, right down to directory removal, rebooting and reinstalling SPWAW fresh never to see the bug again. It's worth a try.
