VCR playback in PBEM causes crash

Post by tracer »

When I started the second turn of a PBEM game, hitting VCR playback caused SPWAW to crash to desktop. I was able to immediately re-launch the game (without a security warning) and finish my turn.

During the turn I noticed many strange 'artifacts' on the map, when I zoomed out... like thin, horizontal lines that blinked (in time with the active unit's blinking), and clear hexes that changed to different textures (i.e., bunker). Zooming back in made them appear normal.

I'm sure this is a video card issue...I've never had any display problems with any SP game (going back to SP1). I'm using a Creative UltraBlaster (TNT2), 32mb...also have DirectX 8.0a installed.

Any ideas how to fix this, or the cause?

Any ideas? I tried changing my vid card's driver to the one supplied by the manufacturer; I had been using the nVidia reference drivers...didn't help.

No ideas, but I also have to report that key "v" for replay doesn't work on my machine.
