You and my wife would get along famously. She is an expert on wine. Enjoys deep red Cabernet's(sp???) the best.

I love wine. I have some every day, whether I need it or not.[:)]

Actually, first priority was a WOMAN. Maybe Adam should have traded two ribs for BEER instead of one rib for Evil - er, I mean Eve. Never trust a cheap bargain... [:D] [;)]
Not really. The theory is that he got woman as a gift from above. But when he set to work to make something for himself---BEER! Though the presence of woman may have been a motivating factor...

Hmmm... Beer AND Wine! Had a couple of Windhoek Lagers with Chinese food dinner last night. And am going to have some good red vino at a Braai (BBQ) tonight - fresh sausages, chorizo and lamb chops, plus some rabbit food. It's hard to buy a bottle of bad wine in S.Africa.
Ancient beers (that should be the title of a book, "In Search of Ancient Beers") must have been pretty bad by modern standards, full of flotsam and other odds and ends. But then I've tried some pretty weird beers: African-village-made millet beer or Belgian randomly-inoculated Geuze (spelling?). The former is almost undrinkably bad and the latter is what is kindly called "an acquired taste."

It's called Guinness. A moment of silence for our ancestors from the age of monkeyboys to 3500BC who had no beer.

Now the question is, was the motivating factor 'to get her' or 'to forget her'?

Maybe she was ugly. Beer helps with that too.
Mmmm.... Beer. The cause of, and the solution to, all of my problems. (H.S.)

Aren't there any other wine drinkers on this forum.....or is it beer or nothing else.......
I basically only drink wine when it's free. I just came back from a reception where two particularly horrible wines were passed out free. Drank too much anyway; the price was right, and my friends were there...

Ah, no wonder we were wondering where are you the past 2 hours while we are talking about this fantastic thing about beer and wine! You knew we are going to talk about wine and you proceeded without us![:D][:D]

Though the presence of woman may have been a motivating factor...
Just think how different things might have been if beer had been invented before woman was. Adam would have refused the apple stating "How am I supposed to make beer out of that?".

Don't think this would have changed much - cider, cidre, Ebbelwoi, whatever you call it - is equal to beer in %-alcohol.

Actually, we're having a particularly glorious and mild autumn at the moment. No hurricanes here... We had one in 1999 that was a big deal by our standards. It just barely squeaked into category 1.

Hmmm. 3500 B.C. I wonder if they advertised beer with a bunch of horses pulling some chariot around near some mountian spring and had fights to the death while shouting"Tastes Great! Less Filling!" [:D][:D][:D]
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!

Yeah, except then we would have to go (censored) ourselves to have kids and guess who gets the stretch marks!

Perhaps it would be best to consider BEER as mankind's first "spice". We know that strong spices like pepper were litterally worth their weight in gold in the Middle Ages because they could disguise the flavor of un-refrigerated food that was "past it's prime". Maybe if viewed from the standpoint that a few beers can make anything look and taste better..., even the Wife! Would explain what I've heard of Beer being used as currancy in Egypt.
