issues with v7.0 update

Post by willmontgomery »

I downloaded and installed the v6.1->v7.0 update, and everything appeared to go off without a hitch. But when I start up the game, the version number displayed is still v6.1. Furthermore, the update appeared to liberally sprinkle oobXX files into the main "Steel Panthers World at War" folder rather than placing them into the "OOB" subfolder. Is this normal, or was there a problem with my installation?

All OOB's which are in use are on spwaw subfolder. OOB subfolder contains information about changes to OOB's during updates on game. I do have stock OOB and Custom OOB folders which I use when I want to edit OOB's but one must create them himself. Stock OOB is backup.

Paul,
Didn't understand your post. Does that mean hold off on patching to 7.0 until further word?

No just that for some people you have to pay attention to the folder the game is installed to and in some cases delete an extra "steel panthers world at war" folder name that gets appended on the end.

The worst thing that happens is the patch gets installed to a nested steel panthers world at war folder INSIDE the original one, and you have to drag and drop them out.

SO double check the path line when th install routine fills it in to make sure it does not have

...\steel panthers world at war\steel panthers world at war\

Thanks,
I knew that to be true from other updates.
